MSFS 2024 VORs

Featured Replies

Is there any plan to make the VORs in MSFS 2024 more realistic as far as distance when you can tune and get radials to/from? They are currently dismally inadequate and I am hoping there is an update planned or 3rd party available….?

The DMEs are better but tuning in the VOR and getting positional information is woefully inadequate.

Unlikely to happen directly from MS/Asobo as they’re more interested in focusing in how aviation is today, which mostly doesn’t revolve around actual VOR navigation. I think the fact that you can tune a VOR, fly its radial and have a relatively realistic on DME is enough for them. I can’t remember when I’ve read this, but some people are speculating that when (if) PMDG releases their classic 747 that it’ll come with updated VOR’s (because, you would kind of have to) as part of the package that comes with the plane. The only reason this was teased was that someone asked Randazzo how they were going to get around this lack of VOR implementation and in classic PMDG fashion, they said something like (paraphrasing) we’re working on a work around - supplementation. So, read into that what you will. The only hope for an actual and realistic VOR network is likely only with 3rd party addons. Just not that many folks are flying that way, in sum and in real life.
