  1. Let me guess, as a horse and buggy operator -- you absolutely hated the invention of the car? This is what you sound like.
  2. I’m hoping this does what MSFS did for X-Plane, which is light the fire under competing developers pants. We all know the main Boeing developer that has been around for decades that could use some motivation to finally start innovating again instead of regurgitating the same 3-4 planes across 3-4 platforms, that still carry over the same bugs and are still quite good, but not nearly anywhere close to “the best”. This is really exciting stuff to see from Vector and I’m hoping they hit it out of the park, but it seems like we’re off to a good start!
  3. You paid $70-80 for the product you already own. When you purchased it, you never signed some kind of agreement that said "with this purchase I'm entitled to new updates on new platforms. There are DOZENS of planes to fly in MSFS2024, I suggest you spend less time complaining about a FREE update and go enjoy a wonderful sim that also took years and years to get right.
  4. Wouldn’t call it a “small” update. FSLTL is now partnered with Navigraph which is now partnered with FlightRadar24.
  5. Have to disagree with you here. 2024's lighting and overall scenery far surpasses 2020.
  6. I'm not familiar with this ever happening to me and I'm a PC user. Perhaps it's your internet connection? You can download all that stuff to your hard drive though. Whenever I load a plane and get in the cockpit, the whole thing is already loaded...
  7. This has to be rage bait. Of course Microsoft isn't going to give comprehensive updates to an outdated sim. 2024 is very good and is suitable for almost all systems. I don't really understand what making some kind of standoff with Microsoft to give you something you want is going to do for you. I think if Jorg saw this post, his response would pretty much be "don't let the door kick you on your way out".
  8. Yep, this is the equivalent of saying “I made it up the snowy hill just fine, but I was using chains on my tires”.
  9. …pop ups with audio are egregious. I was on AVSIM last night looking through the forums when I scrolled past an ad and it suddenly started blaring audio and woke up my wife sleeping next to me. I understand the need to monetize a popular website, but you guys have to keep user experience in mind, you know — the same users that allow you to monetize this site. In the last 6 months I’ve watched Avsim go from one of the darlings of flight sims websites to what is essentially a tabloid website. I was willing to put up with it until you guys started including ads that turned your audio on. Not cool. Do better. Be better. Be like you used to be.
  10. I jumped on the resize bar train and also was silly and changed other settings at the same time. A few weeks went by and I remembered I enabled it — I turned it off and it was a brand new sim. My VRAM went from 96% usage down to the low 70’s. Mind you, I’m on windows 10, with an i7-11700k, 3080 and 32gb of ram.
  11. One thing that I'm ecstatic over is they finally fixed the water tile popping issue! At least as far as I can tell. I've done a bunch of over-water-ops and I haven't seen them since upgrading. This is a huge win because it was a MASSIVE break in immersion and has been around since 2020.
  12. Same thing is happening to me and Nvidia app is not set to optimize. It’s REALLY annoying.
  13. Man, last night after I updated to SU5, I had probably one of the best flights I've had in a while, but it was at like midnight here in Chicago. No scenery popping. No stuttering. I swear, it was blissful. So I got home from work tonight pumped to have the same experience and it was drastically different. Scenery popping and stutters I haven't seen for a while. Literally nothing has changed in my settings. My only thought is that it has to be high server load. The update came out yesterday afternoon (here), so most of Europe was sleeping or about to. I'm just scratching my head how I could have one of the most enjoyable flight sim experiences I've ever had (over 30 years) to the next evening experiencing one of my worst.
  14. I still use 2020 legacy key bindings, so what I do is every time I spawn, I switch over to 2020 controls, use W to take a step forward and that allows me to SHIFT+C into the cockpit. Works every time. Really annoying, but it works.
  15. Apologies if this has been asked and answered, but is anyone else seeing their graphic settings resetting every time you close out the sim? This is the third time I've fired up MSFS2024 after the update and have had to redo my graphic settings. It's not the end of the world, but pretty annoying. I'm not using AutoFPS, which I know can mess with them.
  16. This really isn’t when ai will shine. This release JUST happened and it won’t have much to work off of.
  17. No issues here flying from Iceland to Greenland currently...
  18. Maybe MS could change the wording then? Because if I remember correctly, it’s labeled “max frame rate”.
  19. Bob, I don't think you can say "actually there is" when the "solution" you listed costs 9 bucks a month. I know it's not a lot of money, but the original item was and is.... free. I don't view those similarly.
  20. The thing I've learned about Fenix is that the wait is always worth it. When they release something, it is in near perfect condition -- more so than any other developer. So, as the wait can feel long, at least when we do finally get the shiny new plane, we don't have to spend a ton of time complaining about why they should've taken more time to release a finished bird.
  21. Having watched the part about the Praetor it made me realize just how much money any developer will get if someone could finally officially license the Gulfstream. Imagine having this level of fidelity for a G800. MS has the money and MSFS has the reputation that makes me feel like somehow, someway they could finally work a deal out to get something as awesome as a G800 officially licensed. Imagine doing LAX-SYD in a BUSINESS JET with that kind of avionics. Done on this level, it would probably be the best selling plane in the history of flight simulation. Sometimes I dream...
  22. And they still command top dollar for their planes, too! I recently broke down and bought their 777F. The wife and kid went to Grandma and Grandpas in Florida and I needed a new project. While it’s good, it’s not great. PMDG products used to be great. I don’t know why they got lazy, maybe they grew complacent being “the best”, but when you compare their planes to the Fenix A32X’s — it’s not even close. For example, just go look at the texturing right above the mode control panel on their 777. Like…what is that?! You really nailed it on the head by saying they don’t innovate anymore because they used to be top dog on innovation but now most of their products just feel like port overs with slightly enhanced textures — not to even mention they haven’t released a NEW plane in over — what? 10 years now?
  23. This is obviously very exciting and I’m pumped to hear they’re looking to simulate things as fine tuned to how the temperate registers before it enters the engines to after — but, if they don’t pay the same attention to the avionics, then it’ll be a bust, or bummer — kind of like the ATR is, which I’ll admit is totally acceptable and I’ve had many of fun hours on that plane, but if they’re going for “expert”, the whole plane should be flawless.
  24. ...I wrote the comment. Most adults can deduce that what I wrote is my opinion. What an odd comment to make.
