March 1Mar 1 Is there any way I can get a NEW FRESH main texture folder? Mine is messed up. It happened when I installed GSX and then uninstalled. Ever since then I can't get any textures to work right, I have no sun or moon showing except sometimes i get a white square box where the sun is supposed to be. None of my CVX exclusions work at all anymore. I've re-installed EVERYTHING other than the OS itself. I think some stuff was modified in my texture folder that somehow didn't get replaced or is still being modified whenever I start FSX. It works the first time I start it after the install, but if I ever have to restart FSX then the texture folder everts back to the modified one. Something keeps modifiying the system. I'm not a professional programmer or computer tech, so I don't know anything about Windows file system or file structure or anything. I think GSX must have modified something on the actual OS that keeps loading and replacing the texture folder with the one that don't work. I have no idea how this is being done even when I completely deleted every single copy of the old and damaged texture file, including backups of it. I need a good working copy of the texture folder without having to re-install FSX for the 3rd time.
March 1Mar 1 Administrators Did you get a brand new FSX.cfg when you did the reinstall? Could the texture changes be happening because of a modified FSX.cfg? We are not suppose to share files like this even on the older Sims. I just looked at the main Texture folder and even .zipped it's 104.2 Megbytes. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

Or furthermore, renaming the main FSX folder, create a empty folder named with the old FSX name, and install it there? March 2Mar 2 Author In other words, have two FSX installations, would that even work, don't FSX modify your registry and wouldn't that mess up the original installation? I'm thinking maybe installing onto a 'virtual machine' only problem is I never installed win11 from discs, I did the free upgrade from win10 to 11. When you create a virtual machine, it has no OS on it, you have to install one, I have to purchase win11 to get the OS. I may have to do that and just install FSX onto the VM and actually just use it there.

Nope: you're installing FSX in the place where the Registry thinks FSX already is. Then you rename that folder and rename the old FSX folder to its previous name. All config files (fsx.cfg, dll.xml, and controls\standard.xml, among others) are located elsewhere. I've successfully done so several times with FS9, FSX and P3D. Another option, if you're using FSX-SE, is to check file integrity from Steam UI, but that may ruin any modifications to default textures, BGLs and other files. March 4Mar 4 Author Ok, I completely removed FSX ,files, folders, reg entries, the works, re-installed FSX completely starting as if it never was installed. Ok, got all of textures back and all is well at that point. Here's my problem, none of the Airport Background exclusions are working. I have an ADE project that I've been working on and using for the past several years now. That project was working 100% perfectly before I made the mistake of installing FSDTs GSX addon. GSX was interfering with my FPS so I completely removed it, that's when it all went to hell and back. None of my Excludes in the project work, I can't exclude autogen or mask class anymore, plus..get this now, my terrain keeps modifying itself even during game play on FSX. I mean it puts in hills where there were none, trees where there were none, water slopes where it was flat, I mean it is as if FSX just suddenly takes you to a different location, but remains in the current location, this happens randomly at different times of the day. I use a lot of ground vehicles to travel between different areas of the project, and I will be driving down a road, everything looks normal, then all of a sudden, the screen will flash for about 1/2 second then the terrain just completely changes shape, this is all while FSX is running now. How is that even possible? You can't modify an ADE project without shutting down FSX and recompiling the project. It won't work that way, but yet, somehow it does it during game play at that. Explain that one. I've been on FSdevolper and I'm getting no help from there. I can't get them to understand, it was working 100% fine BEFORE I installed GSX. After removing GSX is when it quit working. Everyone just seems to ignore that statement. They keep telling me I did something wrong with my vectors and stuff like that, how can that be when no mods were done BEFORE installing GSX and everything was working 100% before that point.
