March 21Mar 21 Two spectacular shots of the A340-600, pmplayer. Coincidentally, I was speaking with a couple of my (abroad) colleagues in Qatar earlier this week...🙂... Thanks for sharing ...!

The A346 is one of the longest airplanes in modern aviation, which held the title for nearly 10 years since its deployment in 2002 to the time it was first surpassed by B747-8 that was introduced in 2012. The upcoming 777X is expected to be also longer that the A346. See a (pictorial) graph below, I'd made for one of my posts. I had the fortune of travelling in both the A340-600 and the B747-8 with Lufthansa, soon after they were introduced into service. However, my memories are far more lasting of boarding the A346 in Frankfurt, away from the gate, on the tarmac. Up close, climbing the airstairs to board the -600, remains an unforgettable experience to this day...primarily because it was a single-deck airliner...thin and extremely long...🙂... The lengths of these planes has almost made a parody of themselves. What's next? A mile long? I'm editing a book of short stories, all aviation comedy, and I describe "The World's Largest Plane."
