Wednesday at 03:37 PM3 days An interesting issue has popped up just in the last couple of days. All of my Garmin G 1000's have taken to freezing and locking the sim. It happens when one clicks the ENT button immediately after typing in a destination ICAO (I only fly direct). All of my airplanes equipped with the Garmin 1000 are having this exact same problem. No other airplanes are having any problem at all, including airplanes equipped other Garmin models; it is the G1000 only. This one has me completely stumped.Tres Edited Wednesday at 03:45 PM3 days by tres2
Wednesday at 04:49 PM3 days I tested MSFS2020 default aircraft with G1000 and creating a flight plan worked ok. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
Wednesday at 05:35 PM3 days Author Thanks, I had done a search of the forum for anything similar and there wasn't anything so I was already pretty well convinced that this is limited to me and my computer but thanks for checking it out for me. It just doesn't make sense that only Garmin, and only the G1000 for that matter, would be affected. I just can't think of any controls bindings; keyboard, mouse or joystick, where one could look for something like this.

Wednesday at 08:03 PM3 days Author Definitely at least one; the G36 Bonanza. The others being; the 510 Mustang and the Phenom 100 From Cockspur, and the Cessna 172 which I got From Flightsim.to. I have an aversion to airplanes with doors that do not open. I have always felt the most important one must do before flying an airplane is to get into it!Very interested in your bringing up the map, I don't believe I have ever used the arrival part and I am very ready to try it. What are you thinking I should hope to get out of this? Edited Wednesday at 08:06 PM3 days by tres2

What are you thinking I should hope to get out of this?I had a quick look at a couple of your aircraft. They appear to not be using a default Garmin 1000. You mentioned: “Definitely at least one; the G36 Bonanza.” Is it using a default MSFS Garmin 1000? Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
Thursday at 01:32 PM2 days I tested the MSFS2020 default G36 Bonanza's G1000.No problems. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
Yesterday at 02:16 PM1 day Author Vaughan, thanks very much for your help with this. Sorry the audio, initially, is not very good but it describe the overall issue. again thanks very much. TresEDIT - In the video, I mentioned being at departure end of runway 30; for what it may be worth I am actually at the approach end. Edited yesterday at 03:53 PM1 day by tres2
23 hours ago23 hr Hello Tres Pierson,You are welcome.Glad to hear you are up and running.I assume the default MSFS2020 G1000 in the default G36 Bonanza is not freezing up, correct? Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
8 hours ago8 hr Author It is behaving exactly the same as the 510 Mustang in the video. I just specifically loaded it and it works exactly the same.I'm thinking that one of two things is true: either I'm the only guy that has had this happen or (much more likely) I'm the only guy that was not aware of it LOL!
4 hours ago4 hr Hi,I watched your video. The clickable keyboard icon in the flight plan mini window is for using your keyboard (or not) for data entry. This is what my default G1000 looks like (knobs/buttons/functions/layout).Yours looks like a custom Garmin, correct? They are just what came with the relevant aircraft.what your image is indicating appears to be exactly the same as I was clicking on in the video and all the data entry I was doing was by keyboard. I wouldn't know a custom Garmin if it kicked me in the butt. (I'm not very good at doing quotes, I hope I didn't mess this one up LOL) Edited 2 hours ago2 hr by tres2

Now look at the MSFS2020 default G1000 screenshot I posted. See the difference? As for the keyboard icon mine is same as yours. Quick test: Before typing e.g. KDTW select the keyboard icon filled in (lit up). Start keyboard typing e.g. KD and stop and change the Keyboard icon so it is not selected (not lit up). try continuing typing TW and see what happens. Frozen up. Now click on the keyboard icon again to lite it up. Finish typing TW. Not frozen. Note: When it is frozen you must use the FMS Knob to do the data entry.
