Saturday at 03:00 PM2 days After using and enjoying FSX I finally installed the SDK tool so I could begin to add some scenery objects to some of my favorite airports/cities that I frequent often. The SDK tool installed properly but it does not show up on the startup page when I begin a free flight like I understand that it should. I checked out thedll.xml file ( which permits the tools tab to appear) and checked to see if it permitted for the tools tab to appear, but when I opened the dll.xml file it was unreadable. It's a notepad file and I have the latetst notepad ap but when it opened it was totally unreadable. At this point I'm at a loss as to how I can get into this file to check if it allows for the 'tools' tab to appear on the free flight startup page in msfs x. Any help would be much appreciate.PS; When opening the dll.xml file it says that it was updated in 2014. I'm wondering if this is the issue somehow? Just a thought. Yesterday at 03:53 AM1 day Author No I'm not. I'm trying to acdss the dll.xml file to see if it will allow permission for the tools bar to appear but when I try to open that file it is not readable. I have tried several times with notepad but it just opens very briefly in a black screen with print, then closes before I can read or check it.The SDK program loaded and is all on my computer in the main msfs x folder. Your help is much appreciated. I'd really like to add some scenery objects to some of the most frequent airports that I fly in and out of ies. Boise and Idaho, Oregon & Washington state airports.

Yesterday at 02:50 PM1 day Author Thanks for your help with my issue. The SDK program/installation is a bit above me in understanding how it all works regarding installation. I've downloaded both SDK 1 & 2 updates. I installed ( at least it appeared that it installed) but when I go to install #2 update, it say #1 has not been installed. After this issues, I'm at a loss and don't really know what to do next. I guess I'll just forego the SDK tools program for now. If I knew a expert on this who could/would be willing to do a remote access into my FSX program they probably could figure it out! Its out of my league!Again, thanks so much for your help. Gary
16 hours ago16 hr Author I was finally able to open and read the default dll.xml file. It looked ok from what I have read that it should look like. I tried to paste it in this message but could'nt. If you felt free to email me at glassco71(at)gmail(dot)com I could send you a photo of it or maybe a copy of the actual file.I'm still trying to figure out why the SDK 1 & 2 failed to install. I'm reading through all of the information you sent me but it gets complicated the further I am rerading,
13 hours ago13 hr Author I finally was able to install both SDK 1 & 2 updates successfully. Yet, I still do not have tools on my free flight window. I also ran the configsdk.exe file and the tools still do not appear in the free flight window.I guess I need to try to send a request to the troubleshooting-FSDeveloper Wiki.Any other suggestions before trying for that?
