  1. I finally was able to install both SDK 1 & 2 updates successfully. Yet, I still do not have tools on my free flight window. I also ran the configsdk.exe file and the tools still do not appear in the free flight window. I guess I need to try to send a request to the troubleshooting-FSDeveloper Wiki. Any other suggestions before trying for that?
  2. I was finally able to open and read the default dll.xml file. It looked ok from what I have read that it should look like. I tried to paste it in this message but could'nt. If you felt free to email me at glassco71(at)gmail(dot)com I could send you a photo of it or maybe a copy of the actual file. I'm still trying to figure out why the SDK 1 & 2 failed to install. I'm reading through all of the information you sent me but it gets complicated the further I am rerading,
  3. Thanks for your help with my issue. The SDK program/installation is a bit above me in understanding how it all works regarding installation. I've downloaded both SDK 1 & 2 updates. I installed ( at least it appeared that it installed) but when I go to install #2 update, it say #1 has not been installed. After this issues, I'm at a loss and don't really know what to do next. I guess I'll just forego the SDK tools program for now. If I knew a expert on this who could/would be willing to do a remote access into my FSX program they probably could figure it out! Its out of my league! Again, thanks so much for your help. Gary
  4. No I'm not. I'm trying to acdss the dll.xml file to see if it will allow permission for the tools bar to appear but when I try to open that file it is not readable. I have tried several times with notepad but it just opens very briefly in a black screen with print, then closes before I can read or check it. The SDK program loaded and is all on my computer in the main msfs x folder. Your help is much appreciated. I'd really like to add some scenery objects to some of the most frequent airports that I fly in and out of ies. Boise and Idaho, Oregon & Washington state airports.
  5. After using and enjoying FSX I finally installed the SDK tool so I could begin to add some scenery objects to some of my favorite airports/cities that I frequent often. The SDK tool installed properly but it does not show up on the startup page when I begin a free flight like I understand that it should. I checked out the dll.xml file ( which permits the tools tab to appear) and checked to see if it permitted for the tools tab to appear, but when I opened the dll.xml file it was unreadable. It's a notepad file and I have the latetst notepad ap but when it opened it was totally unreadable. At this point I'm at a loss as to how I can get into this file to check if it allows for the 'tools' tab to appear on the free flight startup page in msfs x. Any help would be much appreciate. PS; When opening the dll.xml file it says that it was updated in 2014. I'm wondering if this is the issue somehow? Just a thought.
  6. I just deleted V2 of the 380-861 and dowloaded/installed V3 of the 380-861 and placed the sound and guages files directly into the airplanes main sound and guages folder with still no call outs.
  7. It was the A380-861 V2 on flightsim.com. I didn't see a version 3. Maybe I should find it and download it and forget the version 2. I put the guages, effects and sound files into the main MSFSX guages, effects and sound folders as the install instructions directed. I'll move the both the sound and guages files of these out of the main MSFSX sound and guages folders into the 380's airplalne's guages and sound folders and see if that makes any difference. I'll leave the effect files where I placed them into the main MSFSX's main effects folder. I did this and still no call outs. Should I have taken the call out files out of the call out folder instead of just placing the call out folder into the 380's sound folder. Also, what about the ground handling folder and files. I just have the grouind handling folder in the 380's souind folder. Again, your help/suggestions are much appreciated.
  8. Thanks for your response. Yes my sim is FSX. I downloaded an updated version of the A380-861 in Emirates livery. The installation directions said to move all the call out files into the main FSX sound folder. I first moved all the files (not the folder with the sound files in them). No call outs were heard, then I moved the call out folder including all the call out files into the main FSX sound folder, stil no call outs were heard. I have this problem with many of the call outs that are in the mfsx sound folder. Some work but many do not. Any help that you can give is much appreciated.
  9. I just downloaded a new emerates 380 airplane with call out sounds but I'm not hearing any of them. The install instructions was to place the call out files in the msfs x main sound folder. I removed the files from the downloaded sound folder and placed them in the msfs x main sound folder as in structions. I have this problem with most of the call out files placed in the main sound folder. I must be placing the sound files incorrectly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I'll check this forum for any similar post while waiting for any member responses.
  10. I didn't have a precep folder but I have several precip wave files. So I created a precip folder, placed all the precip wave files in it and then placed the precip folder in the main sound folder, and wala,,,,,now I have rain sounds. Sheesh, things make sense when someone nice explains things. I don't know how these folders got deleted but the rain (precip) wave files are still in my sound folder. I'm wondering how many folders in the main sound folder are missing because there are tons of wave files that are not in folders. Thanks again for your great help. Have a nice day Charlie.
  11. Thanks for the clarification. That fixed the 'no thunder sound' issue. I really appreciate your help. Now, if I could hear the rain that would increase the realness even more. I see several rain sound waves in the sound folder but do not hear any of them. Should I place them in a folder named rain and place that new folder with the rain wave files in the main sound folder? I'm a bit confused about the main sound folder, there are mostly wave files without folders in the main sound folder and then other folders with sound waves in the main sound folder as well. Thanks again for your great help with this.
  12. Thanks for your suggestions concerning the Steam version of msfs x. I do not have the steam version. I do have another question if you don't mind: I downloaded all of the thunder wave files into the main sound directory/folder in msfs x not the folder. Should I have put the folder that all of the wave files were in that you sent me in the sound directory instead of the individual wave files? There are several other folders in the sound directory as well. Do the sound files still play if they are in a folder in the sound directory or do the wave files need to be downloaded individually into the sound folder. Here is a partial list of some of the other folders that are in the main sound directory: ATC, Lessons, UI Music, Lower Volume, Ground Handeling, etc. Your response is always appreciated and welcomed.
  13. My bad, I guess you can see my login email on the forum site. LOL
  14. Charlie, What email did you use, I don't have mine posted here on my profile and I didn't receive any emails from you as of yet. I'd appreciate you sending the thunder sound files. Thanks so much and I'll download them into the sound folder and hope that works.
  15. Yes, lots of lightening, wind sounds, rain on the aircraft inside windshield but no thunder sounds. I only have one thunder wave sound in the sim main sound folder. it is 2Cthun5b. when I do a search in the sound folder there is only this one in it. Looks like I'm missing a ton of them. How could I recover these? I do remember quite awhile ago hearing thunder when I would chose the thunderstorm weather. I did try the thunder sound download several times without any difference. I appreciate your help with this. Gary
  16. Thanks Charlie, but I have tried it more than once and no difference. In the original install of msfs x about how manu thunder wave files would there have been in the x sound folder? I only find one currently - is this sound wave file that is located in the main sound directory allocated for all airplanes? Is there another directory that should have other weather sound files as well? I'm just trying to understand what causes the weather sounds to be audible. Thanks again for your quick response.
  17. When choosing the thunder storm weather setting I do not hear the thunder sound either in the cockpit or outside, with engines not running. When I locate the thunder sound wave located in the sound main director and double click it, the wabe file plays loud and clear, but it does not play while running the msfs x ap. I do hear the wind noise and sometimes, the lightening strikes, but no thunder. I have adjusted the sound settings in the app turning all but the encironment slider bars to the far left, but that makes no difference. I have restarted the ap several times and tried different aircraft with no avail. This is my first post and I hope I have done it correctly. Any help that is sent my way is much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any suggestions that you think might fix the issue. Gary from Boise, ID
