how would a small charter company really work?

Featured Replies

I'm trying to simulate a small charter operation something like this one:http://island-air.com/and I had left him some email several days back but he did not respond.my questions are:how much of the flying would be out and back? - in other words from his home airport to airport x and then back and then to airport y, etc, etc.or do small charter operations like that do a lot of airport x to airport y then to airport b, etc. or both?thanksbsciao!Brian S

Ciao!

The answer will depend on the size of the operation but is probably yes to everything. For small operators, ad hoc charters mean they will go where the work is and where the paying customer asks them to go, so that will mean both a-b and a-c-b-a and every other possible combination. As they expand then more fixed routes will appear until charter flights end up in the schedules.Rob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual [email protected]http://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk

I know George from when I used to work at Boeing Field. Basically all he would do is come pick people up that called him for a ride. Some of his time was spent doing flight instruction on the side.

Both Robinson Aviation where I trained and Chester Charter where my brother trained do a lot of charter stuff-It's literally wherever/whenever- Chester Charter would cancel lessons when they booked a charter which was lame- you show up and they'd say "Oh, sorry we had to cancel". One time my brother was up and someone from the FBO called on the CTAF and asked him to come back since they just booked one. He was ###### and told them no. After that, he left there and went to Robinson with me- but he really liked his instructor so stuck it out and went back to Chester.Robinson won't cancel for charters- most of their business is servicing corporate jets, and flight training is big for them too.Anyway, I went on a couple charters just for the heck of it- mostly very wealthy people and celebrities that want to go out to the Islands or Hamptons or get dropped off at JFK/LGA. Those flights are lucrative too.
