Adding a shiny texture to a livery,

Featured Replies

Hello, so I want to make a livery for the PMDG 777 in FS 2024. I have a little experience making a few basic repaints in the P3D days using PS, but that's about it. On the tail of the plane, I was thinking of making the color royal blue and then adding my initials in gold lettering. I was thinking it would be cool to have the gold appear shiny and metallic in the game, so it looks more realistic. How easy can this be done, and do I need Blender to do it, or can I use something like PS or Gimp? I seem to remember something about alpha channels but I was always confused about how to use them

Thanks

Creating a metallic shine on text is not difficult, and not very different from doing the same thing with P3D ... but it takes a bit of explaining to anyone who is not familiar with the MSFS file structure and aircraft paint kit. There are a few tutorials online, I believe, but if you run into trouble and need the job done quickly, I'd be happy to help. Then when you see the files, you will doubtless be able to figure out what has been done, and go from there.
