December 5, 200520 yr Does anyone know what the reference point of real life radio altimeters is?Can anyone point me to a description of the structure of the terrain BGL files? The Reality-xp gauge does look nice. I speculate that it uses an algorithm to extact contour lines from the BGL files. I'm aware there are several algorithms that were developed in association with geographical database systems. This will become a highly definition aircraft. We have TAWS and WXR with ground refelctions on board...but i found no reasonable way to figure out Ground altitudes, i did it finally with a intelligent compressed and interpolated SRTM data...Look at the TAWS screens attachedflorian
