July 9, 200223 yr Hey guysI thought about expanding my POSKY painting to scenery design...I used to be really into it back in FS98 days, I did a couple airports. But anyways...Can I use Airport 2.6 on FS2002? Or is there a better free program? I wanna redo the default Little Rock Adams Field to start with. And if I build an aiport....how do I get it to lay perfectly on top of the default one? I never understodd how to getthat to work. Thanks and that should be it for now.http://www.avsim.com/posky/images/banners/gary_ban.gif Gary Hayes My Youtube No i'm not a "real" pilot, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
July 9, 200223 yr Commercial Member Yes, you can still use Airport as it is updated regularly. Another option is GroundMaker (http://www.groundmaker.org). Both are freeware. For the objects GMax is the best option I think (for Fs2002).To place it on the default airport I would suggest to exclude the default one completely and then redesign it from scratch :).ArnoMember Netherlands 2000 Scenery Team[a href=http://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen]http://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen/banner.jpg[/a] Arno If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done. July 9, 200223 yr Ok well let me get a base done first..and I will ask on how to exclude hehe.to get it to scale exact...how would I import a pic under my work space?http://www.avsim.com/posky/images/banners/gary_ban.gif Gary Hayes My Youtube No i'm not a "real" pilot, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
July 9, 200223 yr Commercial Member Both Airport and GroundMaker allow you to load a background image. You just need to find the scale (length of the runway is a good reference).ArnoMember Netherlands 2000 Scenery Team[a href=http://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen]http://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen/banner.jpg[/a] Arno If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done. July 10, 200223 yr Author Gary,Got a question for you, one of the main issues with putting the realism spark in airport scenery is the present model we convert to static aircraft. Most of these are made from FS98/FS2000 flyable aircraft. Now the theory goes that when we convert these to bgl/api to use in inclusion in sceneries we are getting extremely 'heavy' models which impact fps adversely, primarily because there seems to be extra info included in the conversion related to airfile data etc. which a static a/c does not need (and of course 'heavier' details on textures). Static aircraft only need to look good. We have been having discussions on the possibility of sourcing aircraft 'shells' i.e. the visual model only in GMAX format, which we could use as static aircraft in the development of sceneries. Would POSKY consider sharing this with us scenery designers as exclusive use visual models only?RegardsShez Shez Ansari Windows 11; CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K; GPU: EVGA GEFORCE GTX 1080Ti 11GB; MB: Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 5; RAM: 16GB; HD: Samsung 960 Pro 512GB SSD, Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD; Display: ASUS 4K 28", Asus UHD 26"
