Legally distributing photosceneries generated with Maps2bgl

Featured Replies

I have generated a couple photosceneries with Maps2bgl. I'd like to distribute one of them as freeware via the AVSIM file library, but have two questions:1. Can I do this legally with Google Earth as the image source? (I've been reading the forum, and it seems that the last time someone asked, the answer was NO. Just asking in case this has changed.2. If, as I suspect, the answer to question #1 is no, does anyone know how to edit the maps.ini service file so that it uses http://seamless.usgs.gov?I am using the FSX version of Maps2bgl, so currently my maps.ini file looks like this, with appropriate letters instead of asterisks:SERVICE=g*****.**m VERSION=&v=26 DELTA_LAT_PIXEL=0#SERVICE=v***********.**t VERSION=.jpeg?g=52 DELTA_LAT_PIXEL=0#SERVICE=h*****.*t VERSION=612a413179223b692a75664e76214767512544202b35775f685c642130 DELTA_LAT_PIXEL=88BORDER=5COMPRESSION=80QUALITY=1MASK=1Thank you in advance for any help.

Don't know anything about Maps2Bgl but I do not believe anything has changed regarding copyright images. As far as I know unless there is an explicit licence allowing the redistribution of images then you can't do it (unless you pay whatever the cost is so that you can distribute them of course :-) )

IF its a small area...like just an airport. This is what I am doing.I am using these maps as an initial template. But then replacing it area by area with my own photographs + publically available textures etc. My photographs are too green (Spring time photos)...so I use the maps for color matching etc. This only works for very small area. Here is a good place for textures that you can use. http://www.cgtextures.com/Take for e.g. Wooded area. I use Photoshop to cut out the template for wooded area and take out those copy righted areas and replace it with these textured wooded area. A wooded area is a wooded area...who cares. I am also replacing streets using the same method. Its a tedious work. Manny
