June 6, 200224 yr Good mesh is available for the USA at FS Genesis.com where you also see a tutorial on how to create mesh elevations.Quality is easily determined before you buy the product. If the author lists the source of their data and the LOD number then you can make an informed decision. Example - if the author says the LOD is 10 but their source of data is based on terrain elevation points 78 meters apart it means that they are "oversampling". This means that a computer program is "filling in" missing points between 78 meter samples with an estimate of the elevation. You now have LOD10 but the data is partially artificial.FSGenesis explains all of this in very good detail. The bottom line is do not buy unless you know the LOD and the distance between points in the source data.Dick regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
June 6, 200224 yr Hi bigbang84,If you wish to create your own mesh, you should start by reading the MS FS2000 Terrain SDK, available at: http://www.microsoft.com/games/fs2000/devdesk_sdk_fs2000.aspMy website has a few links to data sources and tools to use with it.Bon chance,Stevewww.fs-traveler.com

July 8, 200223 yr Why not try out Martin Wright's handy little FSTerrain program. It uses good ol' GTOPO30 space based data...but you can edit it to your liking...change LOD etc until you build yourself the mountains of your dreams.http://edcdaac.usgs.gov/gtopo30/gtopo30.html GTOPO30 datahttp://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/ Martin Wright's siteCheers, Rolf :)This was made using such items...
