Had Virus,,, Applied the Cream

Recommended Posts

Guest Steve Brown

Well I got hit by a nasty virus this time. Had to throw away my hard drive as no one could get it going again, sadly the work I backed up I lost too. All my models have gone :-( The CDR I backed them up on is faulty. Tonight I started all over again. Anyway, they were not that good. Now I will finish rambling on and carry on playing ;-) SteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ysomdesign/banner.jpg

Hi, Steve.Don't give up hope. Do a search for "Lost and found" demo util. It will tell you if anything can be recovered. Most of the time the problem is in the boot sectors and most of the FAT is OK. Don't try to write anything to it. I just recovered 30 GB from my nice's 80 GB drive and was able to reformat it and got it going again. Maxtor and WD have utils that can help, if they can see the drive as a partition you can recover it. Good luck. TV

Thanks guys for all the help and kind words. I have saved a few from my CDR. For some reason the laptop was able to read some of the files??? Well Jeff, when you said about the doors, sheesh! You wouldnt believe what happened to my little girl today. She was out in the car with my wife and opened the door and fell out. Broke a few of her fingers, sprained wrist, bump on the head. She has only just got better from her last hospital stay and op! Well I would sooner loose all my files than this. Her fingers are now bigger than mine and she,s only 4 :-( Ken Im glad things worked out for you :-) Jeff, are you going to have a house warming party, we have them here in the UK when someone moves :-beerchug My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ysomdesign/banner.jpg

Oh, no!!! The poor little Shiela! She sounds a bit like I was at that age... terribly accident prone! Darn near lost an eye at age 4 - hit a sharp cornered coffee table and sliced myself open through the right eyebrow; busted my nose at age 5 (two black eyes - looked like a little Lone Ranger); at age 6 broke my arm, and at 12 cut my one foot wide open on glass bottle (don't ask how - it happened). I won't mention all the Ganglion cysts I've had surgically removed from both wrists over the years... ;-) Or the back injury in the Navy...Aahhh - youth. Two weeks ago I fractured a meta-tarsel bone in my left foot, so I guess I'm still somewhat accident prone! But here is hoping the little one a speedy recovery, and she slows down on the wear and tear to herself!! Not to fear, Dad!! She *will* grow out of it!Many cheers to her and you and the wifey!Ken Wood :-sun1http://www.avsim.com/hangar/fly/dfdg/bannernewkw.jpgGateway 700X; Intel P4 2.4GHz; 512MB RAM; NVIDIA Ti4200 4X AGP 128MB; SB Audigy; Thrustmaster TopGun Fox 2 Pro Shock
