Afcad and assigning gates to AC.

Featured Replies

I recently used AFCAD to add needed gates KMIA and MYNN.One thing I would like to do. Is have certain planes use certain gates. For example in KMIA when all the AI planes load they are all stuck up in one corner of the airport at Gate A.I want aircraft to use the gates throughout the entire airport. IS it possible to have do this? Can I have say AA at Gate B, BAHAMASAIR at gate D, and USAIR at gate C?And have only CARGO aircraft use the CARGO parking spaces?http://www.forefrontgrp.com/jayssig.jpg

I am doing something similar with KLAX. I have 5 different overlays, 1 for cargo, 2 for international and 2 for domestic. That way all 4 runways can be used for takeoff and landings. I have cargo a/c going to the cargo areas, international flights using the Tom Bradley terminal, and all the rest parking whereever. I could customize it more but it becomes a lot of work. You could use overlays and have certain airlines goto them in your flight plans. For example:For Miami (KMIA):KMIA = cargo aircraft2MIA = American3MIA = United4MIA = Continental5MIA = General Aviationetc..Then in your flightplans.txt you would change all of your a/c with "KMIA" to goto the appropriate identifier. For example change all of your United plans from "KMIA" to "3MIA".I've also heard some people changing the radius in the model files but that is beyond my knowledge :-lol

I've searched trying to find how to overlay. I have TTool and AFCAD but cant figure out how to add airports. I've got the idea but but cant get the finishing touches. plz link me to the answer.Kilstorm

1. Read the AFCAD manual on Creating Overlaid Airports. Create an overlay airport (i.e. 2LAX as an overlay for KLAX).2. Move the airport reference point of the overlay close to it's runway, using the details in the TTools Forum thread Getting Overlay Arrivals to Park Correctly (use the word Getting as a search keyword).3. Add the new overlay airport to the TTools airports.txt file. Everything should be the same except the ICAO code.4. Add new flight plans using TTools using the new overlay ICAO code, or change some existing KLAX flight plans to 2LAX. Compile.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___
