No Take Off Clearance

Featured Replies

I have adventure created using NZCH as departure airport. I get clearance to departure runway and then told to taxi into position and hold. Once in hold position I get no clearance to take off until I move aircraft around, either left, right, or back. Then I will get clearance. Any ideas? Thanks.jmike46

Hi jmike!I had exactly the same problem. By any chance did you use FSBUILD to create or convert the flight plan?Look in in the Program Files/rcv22 directory and open the advgen.log with notepad. You will see some lines when you scroll down like:d_runway_1_id = 330d_runway_1_heading = 326d_runway_1_latitude = 44.881733d_runway_1_longitude = -63.493401d_runway_1_altitude = 475d_runway_2_id = 240d_runway_2_heading = 236d_runway_2_latitude = 44.888187d_runway_2_longitude = -63.504974d_runway_2_altitude = 475Check the heading line for the runway(s) you are getting hung up on. In my case FSBUILD was passing some really strange runway information to RC. The heading passed over was not even close to the actual runway heading. My understanding of RC is that it uses your heading as compared to the runway heading in order to tell when you are in position, so if this heading is incorrect, it can't tell when you are actually in position. In my case I simply did my flight plan over with FSNav and let RC recompile it. Had no further problems....Hope this helps.

Hmmm, too bad nobody thought to inform the Fsbuild author of this problem.Could have been resolved by now.Ernie.

if i had known, i would have told you ;-)jd

Ernie,My appologies for not shooting off a message to you regarding this. It just didn't occur to me as FSBUILD has always worked perfectly for me. I chalked up the problem to erroneous NAV Data and not a problem with your software. I have since downloaded the latest NAV cycle of 0209, but I will try and recreate the problem and pass the results on to you. The airport where I experienced the problem was CYHZ rwy 33.I have enjoyed FSBUILD for some time now and appreciate your efforts. I intended no slight against your software.

Hi Murf, didn't mean to come off as if I was miffed. Just saying I can fix it, if I know about it. I took a look, seems to be a problem with the data with several Canadian airports. I'll have to review the file, and correct what needs to be corrected. Downloading the latest Navdata cycle won't help as it doesn't include airport information.Regards.Ernie.

Hello JMIKE46!Once you get to the departing runway and hold short, make sure to engage your parking brakes. It seems like whenever you hit the parking brakes, Otto automatically establishes the communication with the tower for take off clearance. I used to have the same problem as you until I figured out the parking brake trick.Hope this helps!Sincerely,Dennis D. Mullert
