Pick up RC during flight?

Featured Replies

Is it possible to start up RCV3 after you are en route and have not filed a flight plan? For example, to get vectors to a nearby airport and ILS?Thx,

Howard

I think this other ATC program had it (what's its name?):Switching from VFR to IFR on the fly and v.v.Anyway, you just gotta love RC3Stephan

Ya know guys, there probably is a way to do this. It'd be somewhat unrealistic, and there'd be conditions but I bet it'd work.First, ensure whatever field you file as departure is a fully uncontrolled field. Let's say you takeoff A. You "planned" B to C. Ensure B is fully uncontrolled. In the air over B, launch RC. Now, you'd have to call FSS for wx and (yuk) go through the "...taxiing to..."/"...taking off..." routine, but that done select Clr in Air.Realize, even if this works, we don't promote this as standard practice and realistic by any means. Just a "for now" work-around. I'm not going to test this. Anyone interested :-kewl? Let me know what you find. May not work at all.
