Finally ready to fly - but no sound..... ??????

Featured Replies

The plane ready at the gate, flightplan created and loaded, as described in the manual. Advdisp docked with the text - so one press 1 to get the weatherbriefing.. DEEP SILENCE - after some time you only have to option to contact control - so something have happened in silence. Pressed 1 again for Ground control - but deep silence...WHAT'S GOING ON????One thing more -it's said in the manual that you only have to look for the files once - then it will know the library next time.. As it didn't work, i tried to start over - but i had to manually look for the files again, so it don't seem to remember.....

what sound card? if it is a soundblaster, you will have to increase the number of simultaneous wavs. search the forum, rick did a post on how to increase the number of simultaneous wavs

Seems it's good-bye to Radar Contact III then. There are no places where i can change the amount of simultanious wav's - so i take it my soundcard don't support it.I will have to un-install it. Hope you can e-mail me a key to RC 2.2 then. I have no plans of buying a new soundcard because of this.It really sucks....

Lars,The quetion is: What sound card are you using? No one said you have to purchase a new one if you can set the card you have. Also, no one said it's absolutely the sound card. We can only go one step at a time here.

Scott! It's a rather special PC - IBM, that i got through my last work. I always had clones before - with Soundblaster card. Here the card is called ESS ALLEGRO... I'm just amazed as i have never had any problems with any other kind of sounds - OK, the music alarms in Lotus Organizer it won't play, but that's also something ancient..One thing makes me wonder - there are only wav-files in library 0, 1 and 10. In all other libraries - and sub-libraries there are only txt-files. Is that right?

something is very wrong. you should have wavs in 0-10, 91-99if there are no wavs in 2-10, that would explain why there is no sound. if ask for clearance (forget the wx briefing), do you hear the pilot asking for clearance?

Lars,Look for directories 2-9 as well. If those are missing then you should try a reinstall of RC.In the meantime, I'll see what I can find on your sound card.

Lars,See if this helps at all.http://www.pc.ibm.com/qtechinfo/MIGR-4YRRG3.html?doctype=There are also other drivers on this IBM site.If JD's suggestion (contact CD to see if pilot voice is heard) doesn't work, and you do have wavs in 2 to 10, try that site out.

I have wavs in 0, 1 and 10, but not in 102, 103 ...and in 2 there are wavs - but in 200 and up there are no wavs.. There are wavs in 91 to 91...I don't get any weather - i don't get any clearance and i don't hear the pilots voice. I have only tried the weather, clearance and ground. In general - if there are 3 digits in the library - there's no wav files. You told me some time ago that i could erase all the international chatter files as they would be included on the CD. I haven't got any of them. All the libraries - with the name of a country has no wav files either. The total size of the RCV3 library is 466,5 MB - does that sound right?

did you do the full install? if you did the minimum, that might explain the lack of .wavs in 100 and up.do you have wavs in 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10? how many?

I only have library 2, which contains wav files. Thereafter i have 200, 201, 202 and up - they have no wav files.Thank's Scott!

Lars,Look after 299 and see if you have 3. A list view is alphabetic.

is it possible windows is sorting the winwood directory so that 3 is buried in with the 300's, and 4 and 5 and 6, and 7... are sorting after ?

I do have no. 3 - with wavs, Scott

JD - you're right, they are. Those you mention are there with sounds..- so there's obviously nothing of that missing after all.Now i just wonder about the international chatter files you made me erase hehe - weren't they supposed to be in the libraries named after various countries???? You said they would be on the CD...
