December 20, 200223 yr Hi,I think I prefer FS2002 ATIS over RC3 ATIS. I know how to use comm 2 or turn down ATC sound to eliminate FS2002 ATIS and hear only RC3.Is there a way to do the opposite? Thanks in advance.BobP :) Bob Prince
December 20, 200223 yr Commercial Member not really.it might be fine for the departure end, but what about the arrival end. if you are using fsmeteo (and soon active sky), rc's atis will accurately give you the arrival airports weather. will that be the case with fs200x's atis? JD Read my blog
December 20, 200223 yr Active sky does appear to do so.http://members.telocity.com/~geof43/Geofdog3.gif Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
December 20, 200223 yr FS-Meteo does as well. However, in my setup, Active Sky reports the winds incorrectly enroute and at departure. It is reporting the winds aloft.
December 20, 200223 yr You can skip departure atis by just going straight to CD. You can skip arrival atis by doing your own comms. If your co-pilot has comm's she/he will call automatically at about 50 miles out. If you have comm's during that period, you don't have to call. Like you, I have never liked RC's atis. Sorry JD... :-lol Nice thing about RC, you have the the options to have it your way...Larry
December 21, 200223 yr Just a note, arrival and departure runways maybe different to FSATC's selection - if you don't hear specifically what runway is in use from ATIS, your first indication will be from the grond controller telling you to taxi to RWY xx, or the approach controller saying expect RWY xx. After all, MSMeteo only gives you wind direction and you can only guess what runway it'd be. You need to know what RC is using. And not listening to ATIS doesn't really leave you any good time for planning, esspecially if you are using a SID/DP, or wanting to request IAP Approach.Subs
