RC Pre-purchase query- former Proflight 2000 user

Featured Replies

Hi' Having got FS2002 for Xmas recently, I was delighted to see the built in ATC. However, I soon realized its limitations. Then I saw RC3 come out and it certainly caught my attention. As a former Proflight 2000 user within FS2000, I have some questions about RC3 before getting it- just to be sure.1. Are there regional accents as one flies across various countries?2. Can RC3 generate weather( like PF2000)?3.Does it conflict with the default ATC, or is an adventure flown separately? In which case, what happens to FS2K2's ATC?4. Does RC have a virtual co-pilot to take care of inflight frequency changes, so I can focus on the flying?Your input would appreciated.Eytan OrnsteinEastern Virtual AirlinesSan Juan Hub

1) no, you can create your own set of voices, and then use those2) nope. i let the excellent weather generators fsmeteo, active sky or weather center generate the weather. or even fs2002's weather3) rcv3 is not an adventure. if you are referring to AI planes, those are flying all over the place while rcv3 is running4) yes, rc can fly the plane and/or change the freq'sgo to www.jdtllc.com, download the manual, give it a quick read

I also used to use PF2000 and I loved it there was nothing that could repleace it for me, but with FS2002 it no longer work, or maybe you could make it work but not even worth trying.I bough RC mainly for the variety of options available and after making my first full flight I am very happy with it and would recomend it to you. RC controler also got a little humor in them especially when you do something you should not have done :-D all in all I like it a lot.Couple things I notice that are soemwhat imperfect but one can live with it I don't really mind it. RC quote ".... now listen up now listen up..."1. while flying you offten hear both FS2002-ATC and RC3-ATC this can get kind of anoying, but there are ways around it.2. RC3 doesnot see other AI aircraft on the ground, but does see the ones that are airborn and tells you about them as traffic, ones on the ground only cause problems in takeoff for example an AC might be on the runway and you will get a T/O clearance but you can work around it, just wait for it to leave, I am not sure how will RC react to give me T/O clearance when there is an AI aircraft on final.3. RC can not control AI aircraft or give you directions to the gate or runway.4. Its generated traffic voices are little poor in my opinion, but they have the real ATC recordings to compensate so it's OK , I just turned it down to minimum, you can offten still hear FSATC so no big dealThat's about all I can think of now....Maybe they could make the RC3 some how dig into the AFD files then it could know a lot more then it does.OVERALL it's a keeper and gives you a lot more options then FS2002-ATC. Go on their site here they got a nice table to compare pretty good program and remember I was too once PF2000 FAN, sop I am a new user, but a happy one :-)Andy

>I am not sure how will RC react to give me T/O >clearance when there is an AI aircraft on final. RC doesn't look for ai aircraft on final, so you have to. If RC clears you onto the runway and there is an ai aircraft on final, you can wait as long as you need to until the runway is clear. I find it very useful to listen to the fs atc tower frequency...that way you will hear if any ai aircraft are on final even if you can't see them.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]MyTraffic/Radar Contact/FSMeteo/FSSE/FSassist/FDCHorizon Flights--flight plans and scenery for FS2002http://sidneyschwartz.homestead.com/index.html

Sid, When I moniter the fs ai and a plane is on final but I can't see him yet...... I get on the rwy and get the heck outta there! LOLRob

Andy,If you have FSATC on comm2 you can monitor the FSATC wherever you are, or turn down the ATC volume altogether and ignore FSATC, so it's easy to avoid conflicts between FSATC and RC. As long as you don't talk to them, you can listen to FSATC to your heart's content.By also listening to the FSATC tower freqency (on comm 2), you know where traffic is in the pattern or on the runway, and can taxi into position when it's safe, even if you can't see the traffic.

Sidney,I notice you got My Traffic. How does that interact with the FS default traffic?Eytan

"no, you can create your own set of voices, and then use those" So if I fly from the U.K. down to the Middle East, All the controllers will sound American?I'm not sure how well I could record my voice in imitation of Italian, Arab, or French accents...Eytan

i'm working on the code to play geographic specific controllers if they exist. at this time, everyone is busy flying, exploring, and finding out what v3 can do. they don't have time to record.i understand there may be a demand to have italian controllers and arab controllers, and french controllers.but the people who would like to see, don't record.to coin a phrase, if you (the universe of users) record them, i'll code it :-)

MyTraffic replaces the default traffic. The default traffic is not deleted, though, and you can switch back and forth between them if you want to...you just can't have both at once. If you pay the extra $10 or so for the MyTraffic editor you can customize the traffic to make it more realistic. I'm pretty happy with it and they've been steadily improving it.Sidney Schwartz [KPDX]MyTraffic/Radar Contact/FSMeteo/FSSE/FSassist/FDCHorizon Flights--flight plans and scenery for FS2002http://sidneyschwartz.homestead.com/index.html

JD,If it's not too complicated, i.e. you don't need to be a programmer, let me know, and I'll be happy to donate some accented voices.Eytan
