February 22, 200323 yr Let me guess. If the first fix is within so many miles of the airport, no radar vectors are given?Departing KMSP for southern route, I fly RW heading from runway 30L I use FCM, about 12 miles, for my first fix immediately turning West and South on my own. Departing 12R first fix FGT about 20 south of airport, I take off SE and on my own turn right leg for FGT. The only thing I get from FD is the as filed messages and absolutely no vectors after contacting departure.Shouldn't I be getting vectors as indicated on the SIDs or must I pick the first waypoint further away to activate them.RC 3.00, departure NOTAMS not checked.
February 22, 200323 yr Commercial Member if the first checkpoint is within 30 miles of the departure airport, it is a departure procedure, and there will be no vectors. you the pilot are expected to know how to fly the departure procedure JD Read my blog
February 22, 200323 yr Author Thanks for the clarification. Will that be changed when RC is able to recognize local traffic in order to maintain seperation when AI is enabled? (Or is that not a problem seperation already being taken into account at take-off by the tower.)
