June 7, 200322 yr I have just installed Active Sky WXRE 1.8 and FS Sky World but have not flown under RC 3.01 with them yet.My uncontrolled test flight started with a climibing left turn and I ran smack into some extreme vertical shear (fortunately at 8000 AGL). This made me think of the situation about how I can be allowed to use horizontal deviation under a controlled flight, especially while enroute and the storms are higher then my assigned altitude. Usually, when it is not efficient or possible to climb with a safe margin above the severe drafts, an aircraft would request course diversion to fly between the saddle-backs.I do not recall RC course deviations being available in the "quiescent" enroute state menus, just altitude change requests. Am I forgetting something? While on the subject, anyone recommend other than the multi-function FS Flightmax, a working weather radar gauge (integrated TCAS OK) I can pop-up over my EHSI from Reality-XP (JL series)?
June 8, 200322 yr Ron,You have 2 options in the menu: "Req dev for wx" and "Rrq dev for Turb". Weather gives you heading deviation and Turbulance gives you altitude deviation. With both on, you're basically flying VFR.
June 11, 200322 yr Hi,check Weather Center 2.1. It has a working weather radar. You can find a working demo (15 minute limit) at Avsim:weathercenter2novice2_1_0.zipRegards,JureBush Flying Unlimited]"At home in the wild"[/i
June 12, 200322 yr Author Checked out the demo. The non-resizable except for two choices is not my type of guage. I'm looking more for an actual panel gauge that can be integrated into the panel or at least as a programmable pop-up that can retains its size and position according to my preferences.Weather Center needs its own engine and set of weather downloads and I'm already a satisfied user of Active Sky WXRe, which exports via a common file structure to FSFlightmax, which I have not tried as yet. I'm looking for a lean gauge application for dedicated weather perhaps in combo with the EHSI so storm centers can underlay the nav data.It doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon but I did get a response from a developer but we'll have to see if that interest will be pursued.
