August 13, 200421 yr Hi all,It is normal in RC V3.1 give instruction "you are number one for runway ... even still have an aircraft still taxiing on the runway ??
August 13, 200421 yr Commercial Member 3.1 doesn't know how many planes are in front of you. that is why you shouldn't contact tower until you are at the hold short line.in v4, you're number 23 is possible at busy airports. ;-)jd JD Read my blog
August 14, 200421 yr or are you referring to the "you are #1" given by tower when landing and there is still an aircraft on the runway taxying off or waiting for take off.#1 means you are first still in final to land but not necessarily cleared to land. Tower estimates that by the time you are close enough the runway will be clear and final clearance will be given or you get a go-around.At least I think I've got that correct. If you are using a TCAS you can adjust your speed to allow enough seperation to hope the runway has been cleared by previous aircraft and also keep an eye on your rear so you are not rear-ended by AI.We (well, many) are drooling for version 4 which will put some of this seperation anxiety behind us since it will be able to have some AI control.
