Adv Disp problem

Featured Replies

When I start a flight and activate Adv Dsp my sound starts skipping. If I close the Adv Disp window the sound returns to normal. Alsomy frame rates take a hit. I can fly using the green band and haveno problem with the sound or frame rates. Any ideas? Running FS9and have latest version of FSUIPC Reg. and version 2.123 ADV DSP.

Make sure Adv Display is docked to a panel.

I have docked and locked to no avail. The only thing that worksis to close the window and just have the green bar up. When I left click and open the menu the sound is ok also. Go figure, sure ismind boggling.

What version of AdvDisp and FSUIPC?

What has changed on your system recently? Try downloading and installing fresh copies of both FSUIPC and Adv Display. Finally try moving Adv Display to different locations on the screen and see if that makes a difference.

what changed from when rc was working correctly, and now?

FYI:I had some timing issues with video under W98SE such as not getting text on the main menu when exiting a flight. Pete had me and another user put in a section {Buttons} section with Polling Interval = 50 just for test and that resolved that problem. Another version up he sent fixed the problem without that entry after both W98SE users tried a spectrum of values.I have the versions included in the latest AS2004 betas starting with 3.30.08 and now later. I did get an audio pause with the last test but I am downloading another version now. I can tell you that using AS2004 Flightwatch feature does seem to cause a audio conflict via AdvDisplay.Just to let you know about all these timing changes. The versions above 3.30 are not public yet but perhaps you might request a copy or get it off the latest AS2004 beta released today if you are licensed for the AS2004 install.Fix one thing, break another.

I'm using wxRE and that may be the issue. I'll try a flight toniteusing FS real weather to see if the same problems reappear. I hadsome problems with sound before but associated it with poor frame rates. Thanks for your help guy's, let you know what happens.By the Way I am using the latest versions of FSUIPC and ADV DSP.

Well, I did my flight tonite and found some problems. Main problemis the clouds. When I get in heavy cloud cover my FPS drop to5 FPS and then the sound goes crazy. I found if I dock ADV DSP onsomething that is not always showing my sound will be OK. Also Ifound that running in window mode keeps my FPS up a lot better to13fps. wxRE is worse because it has more detailed clouds than FS9.I,ll just have to get some better glasses to see my instrumentsin window mode. Something else I would like to add because I have seen it posted. Using PMDG landing lights does not blank out myADv DSP.Thanks for all your help.

In your DX audio accelleration settings try setting it to no more than one notch above basic. It should help with video. Also, if you do not have them, go to Skyworld at www.fsw.com and download the high performance clouds - not the DXT version - and turn render to texture off on your video settings. This will help with the performance hit with significant clouds around. There is an FAQ about this on the Active Sky forum here on AVSIM where you can doublecheck the settings I've suggested.

Thanks Ronzie, I'm going to download them now. Took a short flightout of KEWR tonite and used wsRE 1.92. There was rain and heavyOVC to 2500 and everything worked fine. Watch the ADV DSP and itknocks about 5-7 FPS off when it is showing and that is enoughto get the sounds going crazy.
