RC and FS2004 default ATC

Featured Replies

I'm considering buying RC 3.1 because I find the default FS9 ATC to be very flawed. In particular two things about the default ATC irritates me, i.e.1) Default ATC does not seem to pay attention to published procedures which I can find in simcharts. I'm often asked by ATC to divert from my published route which try to adapt to published routes.2) In particular there is one thing that makes me mad about ATC. I'm often asked by ATC to often and repeatedly turn between to headings. With the result that I fly a zigzag pattern instead of the straight flightplan route (once I ended out in the sea outside the airport after running out of fuel because of this)So I wonder will I get rid of these annoyences if I use RC 3.1? If not what about RC 4?

1) is tricky. we can support departure procedures and stars. but, a star ends when you contact approach. a star doesn't go to the airport. when you contact approach, you can ask for an iap approach (simulating a published procedure), and you're on your own to fly it. rc will not vector you through the procedure. 2) i won't do that. once you contact departure, you will be told to resume your own navigation. it's up to you to fly the flight plan. if you miss a checkpoint, rc will yell at you and vector you around to receive credit for passing the missed checkpoint. you can also request direct to the next checkpoint.i think 3.1 will do what you want. i encourage you to download the manual and read it. i know it's not as much fun as flying, but for new users and potential users, it is a wealth of informationjd

see my long missive to pbenoit. in a word yes. what you will find, that rc does things the way it is done in real life. it helps to have two real world controllers (zme and uk) and one swivel head from KORD on the "staff"jd
