December 16, 200421 yr Dear JD,Here is a command from your program that I never, ever, never ever, have gotten correct! AT ALL!Descending into the Class B airspace I am told in a monotone fashion;"Aircraft XYZ turn to heading X descend to 8,000 ft proceed on course."Ok, is it A:) Turn NOW (you fool) to heading X, (then, duh) when you reach 8,000 ft proceed (back) on course. (Which I was on to begin with!)Or, is it B:) Wait UNTIL you descend to 8,000 ft, THEN turn to heading X, (fly around for awhile) and "casually" proceed back on course. You tell me. Without being able to differentiate the inflections in the command, it's hard to tell what the required order of instructions are. Then Bill from FDSO tears up my license after I park. (And I call a cab for the ride home.) GEEZ!Sincerely,Captain Dad
December 21, 200421 yr Dad,What RC is saying is -i) Turn to heading X and descend to 8000'ii)Continue on heading X at 8000' until you reach your correct flight path then resume your own navigation. - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
December 21, 200421 yr Commercial Member sounds like you missed your crossing restriction. so if your heading was 090 to the airport, you're going to be turned at a right angle, say 180. when you reach your assigned crossing restriction, return on course to the airportjd JD Read my blog
December 22, 200421 yr jd,Ah, I know it sounds like a ridiculous request (My question) and the instructions always catch me by surprise as I'm not prepared for it.Since I have "auto-reply" on, I can't ask for it to be repeated.Your explanation seems to be the most logical. And yes it is at a right angle to my present course. Thanks
December 23, 200421 yr Commercial Member i never have auto reply on. that was left there for backward compatibility. suggest turning it off.jd JD Read my blog
