December 17, 200421 yr I took my first full flight with RC. Everything was SO much better than FS9 ATC, except for the stuttering. Usually I get NO stuttering at all. To test this I set-up for the same flight, with the same weather, same plane and same settings, without RC. It was smooth again. I decided to turn on ADV Display from my modules drop down to see what would happen....The stutters came back. When I switched views I got a stutter over brown plate like textures and a second later my textures displayed again. Just to make sure I wasn't crazy I turned off ADV Display, stutters and long texture loads went away. I downloaded the newest ADV module. Can I do something about this? The sim is not unflyable but compared to the normal it is unexceptable. I know that you RC guys are not responsible for the ADV module, but I cannot use RC with this problem. I'd really appreciate some help on this one.
December 17, 200421 yr Btw, my specs are:AMD/64 3200gig of DDR400GF 6800GTI'm depressed about this. RC is what I've been looking for. I can't take the stutters though.
December 17, 200421 yr Try defragging your hard drive. Did you install the RCv3.1 upgrade files listed in the key letter we sent you? This included rcv31.exe and several new wav files, a new FSUIPC and a new Adv Display. Finally did you update your RCv3 shortcut and make sure it is pointing to rcv31.exe?
December 17, 200421 yr Thanks for the help. Yes I did install all the new files listed in the FAQ for RC 3.1. I defragged with Diskeeper before thew install and after. My sound IS onboard my Gigabyte K8NS Pro.
December 18, 200421 yr I know you love to here from me.Today I experienced the worst pauses yet. the adv disp window goes white, I get boing boing sounds, everything freezes, then continues. It occurs when either I or ATC initiates audio. Oh yes, I was parked when it started so it is not a weather write or cloud thing (got rid of those problems). My card is a Hercules Digifire 7.1. Sound acceleration is set to one notch above basic. The aircraft panel may have a conflict with an older GPWS gauge from a CRJ. FSSound.dll is installed. This does not seem to affect things however as panels without this and removing FSSound.dll I still get audio stutters. My environment FS9, W98SE seeing 768 ram going in with 500 MB available and all unnecessary background tasks killed, DX9.0c, 2.53 Gz CPU, AS2004.5, latest FSUIPC and AdvDisp. There is no disk activity when these pauses occur so I'm not in a ram swap issue.
December 18, 200421 yr Commercial Member that is probably the problem. your cpu is having to deal with creating sounds. with just fs, that probably is not that big a deal. but when you have two programs making sounds, the cpu has to spend some time away from flight simulator to produce the sounds.maybe use lower quality fs sounds, if you are using the high quality sounds.even a cheap sound card will do wondersjd JD Read my blog
December 18, 200421 yr My problem happens even when RC is off. It seems to be the ADV Didplay module. When on I get stutters, off no stutters. It's not your problem but I need ADV Dsp for RC to work. What about that module could cause stutters?
December 18, 200421 yr I tried again, this rebooted and didn't start RC at all. I loaded FS9 without ADVDSP activated. Smooth flight, turned it on, bang, jitters and stutters. Where should I go for support on this one? Especially sinc ethe module is free. BTW, I turned sound off (Q) in FS9, same stutters.
December 18, 200421 yr Commercial Member make sure you have the latest and greatest video driversjd JD Read my blog
December 18, 200421 yr JD, your support is great! Thank you!I read the read-me like I should've in the first place. It said that ADVDISPLAY had to run in a window. I tried it and RC worked great. I don't really like to run FS9 in a window, but it's better than default ATC. Thanks again for your support.
