April 19, 200521 yr I will try to attach the tracking map of my flight.I took off at Nashville heading to KMEM. OTTO is resting today. I do all the work.Arriving near MKL the ATP puts me on hold (I followed all the instructions page121 to 125 of the manual).First no choice between En Route Holding and Delay Vectors. I receive only Delay Vectors. First the controller sends me on a 260 course. After loosing the MKL radial I make a right U turn. No reaction from the controller. Then at 10 miles I U turn again. NO reaction. When losing the radial again another U Turn. No reaction. Then approaching MKR finally the controller sends me on a lot of vectors (this is where I hope the attacment succeeds). Then for 2 hours I am on a merry go round. Finally I declare low on fuel. O.K. the controllers sends me on my way to KMEM... at 10,000 feet. Getting almost over KMEM he tells me that Arrival's Closed The Door and back to MKR. Again near MKR I announce low on fuel. O.K. the controller sends me again back to KMEM at 10,000 ft. Once back over KMEM the controller says Closed Door. I then declare an emergency. And finally he sends me to KLIT. But with not much fuel left I decide to land an KMEM. Of course I cannot warn the controller of my intentions. And all along I land at KMEM the controller does not mind but keeps on warning me of other planes. So did I do something wrong or is there a bug in the RC ?I realize I am still on the learning curve so I guess I did the mistke but I am quite sure I followed all the directions except when I came back to MKL after two rounds of holding pattern.RogerP.S. Sorry I could not upload the attachment. Roger See my specs in my profile
April 19, 200521 yr Commercial Member my guess is your last checkpoint is no where near KMEM. therefore i can't hold you at the last checkpoint.if you put mem in the flight plan, you will be able to choose holding or delay v's.you were given a heading to fly, fly it. doesn't matter if you lose the vor.try it again. leave the flight plan alone, and fly your headings as directed, or change the flight plan, and choose holding or delay.holding is going to be more difficult, so get your feet wet with the delay vectorsjd JD Read my blog
April 20, 200521 yr Author JD,O.K. I will get my feet wet AGAIN. But what do I do when the fuel tanks get DRY ? I turned around for 2 hours. I started at KBNA with 3,400 lbs of fuel (Learjet) and was stil with 3,117 lbs minutes before being vectored. When I landed without authorization I still had 300 lbs. I did 21 turns which equals 10 complete go arounds. I spent more time on the holding than flying from KMEM to MKR.My flight plan has no checkpoints. Only the 2 VORs mentioned in the manual (GHM and MKL)Of course I have KBNA and KMEM. What is probably missing is the MEM VOR itself. So I will add that one to my flight plan.I will try again and note each delay vector instruction, the time and the fuel.Wish me luck. I will fly until landed or crash.Roger Roger See my specs in my profile
April 20, 200521 yr Author JD,I reloaded a new flight plan. The difference with the old one is the adding of VOR MEM.It seems that did the trick. Now arriving as previously around 20 nm East of MKL, the controller told me to expect holding and gave me a choice between Enrout Holding and Delay Vectors. Choosing Delay Vectors he made me do a rectangle West of MKR then authorized me to fly to MEM. From there everything went well.Previously with the old flight plan he made me do a beautifull flower by flying over and over and over MKR.I tried the previous flight plan twice with no success. With the new one it went directly well.Any coment ?Thank youRogerP.S. Unralated: My fist fly today I had an FPS of 4 !!!!!; I stopped and restarted FS9. Still fps 4. I stopped the computer and restarted all over again. Now around 22/25 fps. I am just mentioning it as it may help others. Roger See my specs in my profile
April 21, 200521 yr Commercial Member it is always a good idea to put a vor as close to the destination airportjd JD Read my blog
