Started having this problem last 10 flights. When Otto calls forweather at 50 miles I get wind direction and speed for the flightlevel I am at instead of the ground level readings. I am using wxREfor weather. What can I do to correct this problem? Thanks in Advance

what is wxRE?are you using fs9.1?activesky and fsmeteo both set the arrival weather at the arrival weather, and that is what i read.it's possible the weather hasn't been set yet, or has been set to the current airplane's position's weather.you say it just started happening during the last 10 flights? what has changed since 11 flights ago?jd

wxRE is the previous incarnation of AS2004. It runs with FS8 or FS9 but is limted to global weather writes with either one and for FS9 will not use the local weather portion of the weather engine modeler. This should not effect the posters destination readings, however.Within the lower wxRE window the user can fetch the weather at the destination. Within FS however it may be different as interpolated by the wxRE mechanisms for future processing if TAF processing is enabled so that fetch may or may not help in diagnosing the problem. There is also the lock destination weather feature, distance settable as I recall, so within that radius the weather should not change during that stage of approach. Also included with FSUIPC is the weatherset utility which can read the FS weather for some distance around the aircraft. It is an application that runs in its own window (I suppose similar to trafficlook) and by reading the current FS weather at the destination and comparing Otto's info, it can be noted if Otto's info is current within FS. This takes the static fetch window of wxRE out of the picture so the user can see how wxRE is actually manipulating the weather at that point and compare it with Otto's report. If Otto's report matches RC is not guilty.Make sense for a little diagnostic procedure? We can determine if wxRE is set up correctly.Another point of confusion for some is the wxRE Flightwatch on 122.0. If enabled it should report the ground weather where you are if you are near a reporting station. It does not report the destination weather as some people think.

The only program update i have made is the latest version of FSUIPC.As I descend to the assigned runway the wind changes to the arrivalmetar that is listed on wxRE. (old program). Arriving into San Juan at FL100 the wind was 010/34. The metar said VRB/04. FS ATIS reportsthis in the background but RC doesn't get it. RC gave the wind atFL100 as the ground wind. Hope this explains it better. Thanks for the replies. Can't wait for RC4.

i think there are a couple of options, something like set arrival weather at nn miles. set that to 60, and you should get the right weather reportjd

Thanks JD, I,m going to check that. It was set to update arrivalat 60nm and maybe it,s not doing it.
