November 14, 200520 yr I am thinking about to order RC-4 but would like to know some things:1. can i use RC-4 together with ActiveSky real weather?2. i have a lot of MRAI AI traffic. What about this traffic in RC-4? Are they compatible? I mean, how it works together?3. And now...what i am looking for: Actually, i am looking for some product, which makes pretty same like default ATC, but knows SID's and STAR's,can give real vectors (not send me to nowhere like MS-ATC)and uses real names like real ATC and not like FS-ATC: "Moscow Tower":-).I use planes like PT Tu-154, LDS-767, PMDG 737/747 or PSS-320 with FMC's and never use default aircraft like Cessna or Learjet.I don't want to fill out many windows before flight, just minimum and let do it programm self.Is RC-4 my product or not?;-)
November 14, 200520 yr Commercial Member 1) absolutely. read down the page at www.jdtllc.com - you will see a whole list of add-ons that work while you're using radar contact. this is just the list of what my beta testers use.2) not sure what mrai ai traffic is. but, ai is ai as far as fs 9 and fsuipc is concerned. i use ultimate traffic, i have beta testers that use PAI, and others use my traffic.3) i think there is enough information on www.jdtllc.com for you to decide whether rc is for you. i think it will bejd JD Read my blog
November 14, 200520 yr jd,the feature list looks impressive indeed. Just two questions :1. Does "international" procedures also include Russian procedures ?2. Does your list of Airport names also include the main Moscow Airports Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo (payware available at igfly.com)? My virtual home bases :)Mike
November 14, 200520 yr >1. Does "international" procedures also include Russian procedures ?No it doesn't, Mike. The only country which has specific, accurate procedures is the United States. Outside the US, there are almost as many different sets of procedures for ATC as there are different countries so it's not been possible to include specific procedures for individual countries. What we have done, though, is to attempt to provide a flavour of international operations by replacing the US RT phraseology for the most commonly used instructions by ICAO standard phraseology and providing a representative system of altimeter setting procedures again based on ICAO standards and recommended practices. I'm no expert on Russian altimetry procedures but, if I understand correctly, you have a system which uses QFE as your pressure datum and your vertical clearances are expressed in metres. Neither of these procedures is supported in this version of RC.>2. Does your list of Airport names also include the main Moscow Airports Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo (payware available at igfly.com)? My virtual home bases :)Sheremetyevo is included by name as are the Russian ACCs although you will probably be very amused at some of our attempts to pronounce them! :>))Pete
November 14, 200520 yr Pete, thanks for the info.>> Neither of these procedures is supported in this version of RC.Hmmm, that's a pity, I think "international" should include Russia. There's a VERY active FS scene and also the growing popularity of Russian aircraft and sceneries might not got unnoticed. As a very rough summary, you won't get vectors at Russian airports. You get your STAR and for approach then go into a pretty wide circling with an either 90 (at big airports like Moscow or St. Petersburg) or often 45 deg turn to final.Yes, altitudes in meters, speeds in km/h.Should anyone of the RC team like to get more info in future (I hope !), you'll certainly get it e.g. at our Forum or other info sources.>> Sheremetyevo is included by name as are the Russian ACCs although you will probably be very amused at some of our attempts to pronounce themYeah, I'm from Germany and can imagine what you are talking about regarding the pronunciation :).Domodedovo (UUDD) not included is sad though, since it's the largest and most modern Russian Airport, see some scenery screenshots e.g. here : http://www.igfly.com/screenshots.php?product=dd-dmdHearing a MAJOR worldwide airport as "cleared to uniform-uniform-delta-delta" would sound awkward to put it mildly :(.Will the list be expanded in updates ?I'm aware with requests for expansion I must sound awful, if RC4 hasn't even been released yet. But please DO NOT take it as complaints, just as personal desires.Actually, after reading about the new phraseology I'm quite pleased RC4 moved eastbound into Western Europe. Just move on a bit more eastbound ;).Mike
November 15, 200520 yr At the time you are contacted by approach you can elect to follow a published approach (IAP) for your selected runway you will can then follow your procedure as published such as your DME arc or whatever and merge on your own to the localizer. Your STAR should be included in your flight plan so RC will follow it up to a point.Perhaps this meets your requirements.
November 15, 200520 yr Hmmm, yes, well, ermmm, it more or less meets it ;) After some practice, I should be able to fly with knots and feet again, at least occasionally :DMike
