November 15, 200520 yr I've incountered a new problem which has been identical on my last two flights. One was an old flight plan and the most recent was a new flight plan, while flying 737 NG. During descent, I can be at my assigned altitude or at most 100 ft high or low and I'll be told that I've busted my altitude 3 or 4 times even though my alt. hold, altimeter, and altitude indicator tell me that I am at the correct level. My RC altitude variance is 300 ft. By the time that I'm at 10,000 at 250 kts, it becomes a broken record that my assigned altitude is 10,000 every 15 seconds. I complete an ILS approach and everything's fine until I get to the gate and then, of course, I get an earful.I've been doing this awhile and I haven't changed anything from the flights before I started having this problem. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks,Scott
November 15, 200520 yr Commercial Member i'm assuming you have set your altimeter to the local pressure?jd JD Read my blog
November 15, 200520 yr Commercial Member and what number is in the transition level fields? exactly what is the number. is it 18000 or 180?it should be 180. if you have 18000, then rc thinks the transition level is 1800000 :-)jd JD Read my blog
November 15, 200520 yr That's funnyNo. It's 180. I like to keep it simple and haven't monkeyed around w/anythingScott
November 15, 200520 yr Commercial Member and when you hit the "B" key, the altimeter changes off of 29.92?jd JD Read my blog
November 16, 200520 yr YesI'm in the middle of setting up a new flight plan, which I'll fly tonight and then probably fly one of my old favorites in the morning. I'll pay extra attention to every detail. In the meantime, thanks for your time.Scott
November 16, 200520 yr I've never used this status display to look at it but if one of the SHIFT-Z status displays shows your plane altitude see if it matches your instruments at 10,000. Just a diagnostic suggestion.Which 737 model are you using?
