November 15, 200520 yr Does this refer to the traffic near the active runway? Or does all ground traffic on the tarmac stop moving until you have landed? If the latter is the case, is there an option to disable this? I would like to see some of my ground traffic continuing to taxi. Looking forward to this add on.PS Speed restriction below 10K - the manual says speed relief exists at non FAA controlled airports. Is there an option to have speed relief at all airports for those of us flying the 747-400 (when we are at heavy gross weights?

November 16, 200520 yr "no speed relief for faa airports - i've asked doug about it"I dont know about this, maybe it is something recent? About 2 years ago I was putting together an RC chatter package for KPDX. Both a Luftansa A340 (non stop to Germany) and UPS 747 departure (both east and west) requested, and were granted relief at change to departure freq. I did not think much of it because I have heard this several times in my r/l flying in the area.I have since purchased a complete new computer system, and I believe I may have the actual sound clip burned on a CD somewhere, I will take a look for it. I can not recall if I have heard this coming out of the BRAVO space at SeaTac (I dont think so). November 16, 200520 yr Author Hi JD - not to start an argument or anything (I have never flown or controlled) below is a quote from a 747 driver over at the PPRUNE (professional pilots network) forum regarding speed relief. Just food for thought - maybe an option so those of us wannabe heavy drivers who bust the speed restrictions don't get pennalized too badly... The link for the whole thread : http://www.pprune.com/forums/showthread.ph...ht=speed+relief""This is an interesting subject, that I have looked into some time ago for my company. I do not have my notes with me, but here is my recollection. The conclusion that I came to at the time is that unless a procedure (SID/STAR) gives a specific speed then the regulation is 250 or minimum safe speed which ever is greater. As the takeoff/departure performance calculatons are based on finishing the 3th segment of the climb within 5 (10 engine out in our case) minutes then there is no real option to keep the flaps out to 10K. In my 10 years on the 747 I have only seen this attemped once (I was the relief f/o) and the PF (f/o) was quickly overruled by the capt and ATC informed of the higher speed. A quick call during acceleration to ATC informing them of our minimum speed has always done the trick.Having said that, KIAH is a confusing place as they have specific speed limits on the SIDs and will often give the clearance
