December 9, 200520 yr Does progressive taxi still work? It would be hard to find your way around airports without plates.
December 9, 200520 yr Should. The section in the manual was written by Larry Holcomb where you use the FS-ATC in conjunction with RC. Check sites like www.myairplane.com for airport diagrams, plates, DPs/STARs etc when you've time though. Far more realistic than the pink line.
December 9, 200520 yr Hi there,RC doesn't use progressive taxi so no, I'm afraid it won't.At the arrival airport you can always contact the FS atc ground and request a taxi to the ramp. Then it will come on. It's harder to co-ordinate with FS atc at the departure airport but is possible.I sometimes cheat and use FSNav to see where I am and where I'm going ;-)All the best,John
December 9, 200520 yr A few times when I did not have plates available I used a heads up overhead view within FS to get close.A substitute for airport diagrams can also be the freeware AFCAD/AFCAD221 to look at the gate assignents, taxiway designations, etc., and print out the resulting diagram.I often use AFCAD to view downloaded drawings that identify gates and then mark them on the hardcopy diagrams I do have.
December 9, 200520 yr Moderator I would agree with John that FSNavigator is a useful way of finding your way around an unfamiliar airport. Even better IMHO, is FS Flight Keeper which includes a superb moving map which can zoom right in to show taxiways and parking gates. Its data is gathered by reading all your scenery BGLs so you end up with your own customised map.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
