RCv4 settings for FSUIPC 3.51

Featured Replies

I have searched the manual and cannot find what the FSUIPC settings are when RCv4 is installed on the non-FS computer using WideFS.I just want to make sure the AI control features and anything else FSUIPC is properly configured so that I do not see any anomolies. Thanks,

Hopefully, John will see this e-mail ;)I am following instructions on page 118 of the manual.I am attempting to rebuild my scenery database and the manual indicates I should have Makerwys.exe located in the main FS folder. I do not have this file on my FS PC.Any ideas? Thanks again!

maybe this will helpWidefs users - locating makerwys.exe after RCv4 is installed. If Radar Contact v4 cannot find a path to flight simulator in the registry it will put the file makerwys.exe in the C: folder (on the widefs machine). You must move it from there into the main Flight Simulator folder and then proceed with rebuilding the database as outlined in the widefs section in the manual.

Hi Jerel,Sorry for the delayed reply - it was night-time over here ;-)Hopefully the note jd sent has enabled you to find the makerwys.exe. It should get installed in the root C: folder on the widefs machine. I haven't got my release cd yet so can't confirm this however. As for the fsuipc setting the only one that really affects RC is the one on the 'technical' tab. At the bottom right the 'Set TCAS id string from' setting should be Flight. That's the default setting anyway. It affects the ai callsigns. All the best,John

Hi John, just a quick question , while I am waiting for my copy, I am debating on installing RC in my second computer or not.....I am just curious, do I have to have ADVDisp in the modules folder in my main (FS) computer? Thanks

John,Thank you for responding. Johns' answer helped me. The makerwys.exe is copied to C: I followed the instructions after I found the file and the scenery rebuild went perfectly.Best Regards,

Hi Abraham,Personally I'm a great entusiast for running stuff on a second PC. But you need to have Pete Dowsons widefs installed of couse ;-)Assuming you have then, yes, Advdisp must be in the modules folder. Then you can either use the advdisplay window on your FS machine (which is what I do but on a second monitor) or install and use 'showtext' which comes with advdisplay on the widefs machine. The latest version is always available from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlAll the best,John

Great, thanks John, I do have widefs, so I think I will intsall RC in my second comp, and use advdisp in my fs comp on my second monitor (I guess like you). Any chance to expand the widefs part of the manual? it seems that there are a couple of extra things that we need to do.Thanks, and can't wait to get RC on the mail!Abraham

Hi Abraham,Point taken. We kind of figured that anyone who could work a second monitor on the FS machine plus configure a network with widefs running would play around with it themselves. Didn't want to spoil the fun :-lol All the best,John

I was unable to get text to display in SHOWTEXT. I had to install the advdisplay.dll on the FS computer and hide the window for advdisplay. The text from RCV4 then showed in the SHOWTEXT window on the non FS computer.Kinda weird!I got it working.RCV4 is fantastic. I ran a flight last night. Also, great AI iteraction. Thanks!

mmmm the fun of tweaking and never fly, isn't that all about?:)Abraham
