December 15, 200520 yr Overall I'm happy with RC4, but the one thing that nagged at me with RC3 seems no better with RC4. That one thing is the incorrect accents for controllers. Having the controller tell me that the "alti-meeeter" is 29.92 just puts a bit of a damper on realism, as does British accents at US fields. I know you can manually uncheck the "offending" voices, and that's what I've done, but then flights between countries never quite have the right feel. I'm wondering if you've ever given thought to using geographically appropriate voices automatically, based on where the flight is located? Is that technically feasible? That way, when you're flying in US airspace, controllers sound American, and when in Europe, they sound European? Not a huge issue, but enough of an irritant to post. :)
December 15, 200520 yr Commercial Member we didn't feel like we had enough voices american and/or european to accomplish that.maybe as more volunteers come forward, we can get therejd JD Read my blog
December 15, 200520 yr Yeah -- I noticed this too.Another, perhaps, easier to implement suggestion, would be to list the country of origin under each person's name, to aid in the clicking/unclicking selection choices, right on the menu page itself. After all, we do have the name of the person posted there.I also noticed the "distinctive" way many of the voices have of pronouncing "heavy," almost like "hee'-ah-vee." It almost sounds like a southern accent, except they otherwise might sound British. However, I'm quibbling. I'm a new user to RC, but enjoying it nonetheless! Thanks for reading my humble comments . . . Jim in Atlanta
December 15, 200520 yr Commercial Member we were going to use flags, and we thought about doing that. but then the names would be lost, and i thought it was important to acknowledge the folks that took the time, and made the effort to contribute their voices to our product.maybe i can display the flag, when they press the buttonjd JD Read my blog
