I UNINSTALLED My New Radar Contact 4 Tonight

Featured Replies

On New Years Eye (last Saturday) I installed Radar Contact 4 because so many people really liked it and said such good thinks about it. Also, in the last few weeks, FS2004 ATC has had some wierd approachs for me. After I installed it, it never worked like it was suppose to, and yes a lot or most of the trouble could have been "operator error". It seemed to work fine (except for those LOUD, LOUD chatters) until I neared the "hold short" of my assigned runway and then...... nothing for 10 - 15 minutes. The few times I was given the OK to depart, there was nearly always another aircraft in takeoff position on the runway that NEVER, NEVER would take off. 5 to 8 other aircraft would be waiting for him to GO (including myself), but after about 20 minutes I decided, " to ####" with him and I went around him and caught all kinds of #### for that action. Then I would apply power to take off and at about 40 -50 knots, the montor picture would FREEZE UP !!! Sometimes I could get it going again and sometimes I had to reboot FS2004. In three days I never had a complete flight so tonight, I UNINSTALLED it and return to my "butter smooth FS2004 ATC". I'm not really sure just what I'm missing as I have nothing to compare. I know I really did miss the "pink brick road" to the active runway that you have in FS2004 ATC. I put Radar Contact 4 in the pile of other Flight Sim programs that I didn't like like: FS Sound, FS Atmosphere, MegaScenery,Active Sky V,O & O Defrag, Tracker IR3 etc. I really don't mind the money I spent, I'm just sorry that it didn't work for me. jerrycwo4

send me an email at [email protected] one thought on your problem. did you by chance turn off ai chatter? that might explain the frozen aircraft, since i was unable to tell them to do anything, like taxi, or take offjd

J.D. you might have the problem solved already as, YES, I turned off BOTH of the "chatters" as I did not understand the difference in them..., just that they were too load and I already had a good "chatter" program. I just knew they were TOO loud and I could NOT concentrate on over "duties" of the flight with the chatter so loud.In Jan 2005, I bought the FASTEST home computer money could buy , the top of the line ABS computer and since then I've had the best running Flight Sim and picture that I ever dreamed of...... until I decided to get the LDS-767 and the problems started. I could NOT fly an automatic route because I did NOT know how to program the FMC. I now almost know how . So if my 767 fly's in OWN particular FMC route, it is DIFFERENT from the FS2004 ATC and you know that will not work. Then I read that the program FSBuild would make an auto route and (almost) automatically install it into the 767's FMC and also into the RD4, which would solve all of my flight route problem's ; they BOTH would have the same dept, arrival and WAYPOINTS. With FSBuild I have just learned to "make" a flight plan and it downloads into the 767's NAVDATA/Flight plan folder and with one click on the "route" page of the FMC, the route is programmed into the 767's FMC. I just now don't have ANY ATC to use with it and that is unsatisfactory!I see I have two options:1. FSBUILD also states that it can export it's routes into FS2004, then the ATC would match the FMC route and I'd have the needed ATC. I don't know how to do this yet, or2. If you'd send me another KEY NUMBER, I'll RE-install RD4 on my flight computer and work with you to see if we could get it to work like it is supposed it.Thanks for your offer to help as I KNOW that I didn't give it a fair chance. My only reason I think was, trying the learn 3 COMPLICATED FlightSim programs at the same time: LDS-767, Radar Contact4 and FSBuild. It definably put me OVER my patience level. The add-ons that I fly with are: FMC (vr 1.6), Active Sky 2004.5, FS Environment, a number of different MESH programs and a small little "chatter" program.... cant remember it's name, but it's something like ENCORE, encon or something that; starts with an "E" ( you add your own wave files it, control how often it plays, and control its volume. Thanks for your help, Jerry

Jerry,I fly exclusively with the LDS 767; I use RC4 for ATC (would not consider flying without it ;-)); and I use FSBuild for my flight planning. The combination works just fine; you really need to take the time to learn each product, as each is a very complex piece of software ... >I see I have two options:>>1. FSBUILD also states that it can export it's routes into>FS2004, then the ATC would match the FMC route and I'd have >the needed ATC. I don't know how to do this yet ...Using the same method that you used to "export" the flight plan in LDS 767 format (.rte format), select to export the file in FS format (I don't recall if it say FS, or FS9, or FS2000, or FS2002). Regardless, the option is there. It will put the .pln file in your "Flight Simulator Files" directory. Then, when you start RC4, you "load" the flight plan that you want to fly.-michael

Hi,I'm an earlier RC user, and came back to flying under RCv4 with FS9 just today. As it appears, I have a problem very similar to the one described by jerrycwo4. I've been advised to wait at the threshold for my rwy - with aircraft lining up behind me - no takeoff clearance after quite some time. Tried it again later, this time with a/c in front and behind. Nobody moving ...In addition, RC closed with an error twice, just can't replicate it sofar. I'll report back if it happens again. No idea what I may be doing wrong, or what I might try to make RC work for me. I have AI-chatter left ON, btw. Thanks for any hintsTilmanFS9.0, WinXP Pro SP2. No other addons installed sofar than the ones needed with RCv4.

if you can duplicate the problem, then click debug, load the .pln, start rc, duplicate the problem. let it sit there for 2 or 3 minutes, then quit rc.then zip up the .log file in the rcv4 directory, and ship it to [email protected] in the email the problem i'm trying to figure outthanksjd

Jerry,I NEVER tr several new soft at the same time. That wa it is easier to find what and where something goes wrong.Roger
