January 5, 200620 yr What is the concensus as to the best flightplanner to use with RC4. I know that FS9 has a planner but you must manually add the SID's and STAR's to be realistic.
January 5, 200620 yr Moderator I've used FS Navigator for many years and it does all I need of it. The SID and STAR database is quite comprehensive but updates are not always as frequent as in the past.Having created a flightplan you can use the Export function to create a FS2004 version (used by RC4).Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). January 5, 200620 yr My preference is FSBuild 2.22 payware. Its pros are that you can run it without FS running. It connects with weather applications such as AS6 so using various FSB menus you can get quite good fuel planning out of it. It will take a compatable weather app winds aloft into consideration and allows you to enter additional times for taxi, alternate, extra, and hold that are included in the fuel planner details and totals. It exports in several formats as well for various FMCs besides the standard FS8/9 format. It has I'm told a rudimentary moving map feature but I would not count on it. It is a planner, foremost.www.fsbuild.com will get you to the home page and forum link. You can try the older freeware 1.4 version but it will not give you all of these goodies. There is a bit of a learning curve but it is a powerfull planner but not too tedious to learn.I got it to work with AS6 and the PMDG 737NG as well as RC.Between FSB and AS6 coupling and the navlogs of each, what I get has a lot of report details such as put out by a flight service or airlined dispatcher so you can pick the most efficient altitude.
January 5, 200620 yr I like FS navigator. It uses the Sids and Stars, has a great moving map that shows you where you are at all times, and exports to PMDG-Level D 767 and FS9. You can try a free demo at www.fsnavigator.com
January 5, 200620 yr >My preference is FSBuild 2.22 payware. >>I got it to work with AS6 and the PMDG 737NG as well as RC.>Can you tell me how you did this? I enetered the correct directory, have use winds aloft checked in the build menu and make sure AV6 is running but get no winds aloft data showing in the navlog. Thanks
January 6, 200620 yr I have used FS navigator for many years. After loading aircraft, I use FS navigator for flight planning and export to RC4.Erv/KSDF High end with 5090, VR, 2020 & 2024.
January 6, 200620 yr Thanks to all of those who responded. I downloaded th FSnavigator trial and it looks that it may be what I need.
January 6, 200620 yr I prefer FSBuild. Can create flight plans quickly and export them to where you want, ie PMDG, PSS, FSNav, etc. Don't have to be in FS to use it.After I create the plans, and before I fly, I go to a little program called "FSGate" to set the parking gate or ramp where I want to start. This clever (FREE) utility changes the flight plan to put in the gate or ramp of your choice. Easier than doing it in FS.I load FS, then load the flight plan in FS, into Active Sky 6, into Flight Keeper, then bring up FSNav and load in the flight plan. FSNavigator is a must-have, but I prefer FSBuild for creating the flight plans. Lastly load in FSPassengers.
January 6, 200620 yr Does FSbuild work the same as FSnavigator in that you can use a key stoke combo to put the map on our panel. I have not run any plans yet as I am waiting for RC4 before using the 20 free flights. But I did try the ctrl + F9 and I assumed that this was a moving map.
January 6, 200620 yr Updating to v2.22 helps. I just went through this via e-mail with someone else. This is off-topic for this forum but I'll take a small space to post my fsbuild2.cfg file. For FSB help go to their forum at www.fsbuild.com. January 6, 200620 yr FSB is a very poor moving map but somehow it says it can be done. What I do is print the navlog. Importing the flightplan into a GPS might be better than a moving map. If you are flying larger aircraft with a nav display EHSI that can import a flightplan I'd use that.If you require a moving map then FSNAV would probably be a better choice.
