June 15, 200223 yr Recently I asked in this forum if anybody experienced "oscillations" of the default 737 when using autopilot and didn't get much responseNow, over in the Fsim.com forum (which I can read but not post to for some reason!) , this was posted with the reply below"Since a short time most in my non original aircrafts, the elevator starts to oscillate around the designated altitude, when flying the autopilot. Anyone knows how to prevent this??" REPLY --"Use Notepad to add this to the aircraft cfg.file on the Planes giving you trouble. Anywhere under {general} will work. [pitot_static]vertical_speed_time_constant=30"Now I notice that the default 737 has the number 1 as the time constant -- but the POSKY 767s and 777s have 999.Does anybody know what this is all about?
June 16, 200223 yr Author Barry;I don't know why PSS uses 999 for their aircraft, but I always make mine (my downloaded aircraft) 100 or 200. I have found in the past that a lot of aircraft oscillated until I made that change. Now I just make the change before I even fly the aircraft. It has never caused any problems by doing it.RichardS
