During a flight I was asked to contact a controler on a given frequency, but for some reason RC4 would not accept the pressing of the button I assigned to "1" nor would it accept the keyboard number 1, it would accept any other number but not 1! I alt and tabbed out and checked that the keyboard was working, no problem, back into FS, not working still, meanwhile the controller is having a hissy fit coz I'm still on frequency, but I can't do a #### thing about it!I have to cancel IFR, at which RC4 shuts down.Any Ideas?Is it possible to start RC4 once you are airborne or does it always have to have you on the ground at an airport?

Do you possibly have another add-0n that uses the 1 key?

I was running FSHS which does not use the key (doesn't bother me too much that AI flights are called by number) and FS Passengers which has all the number keys disabled so it doesn't interfere with RC4, so that answer really is no, but better that all the add ons are listed.

what did you have assigned to the rc menu 1 key?do you have tune on contact set on the general options page? if not, i can only imagine that the wrong frequency was dialed in by you.if you can reproduce the problem, start rcv4.exe, click debug, load the .pln, set your options, start rcreproduce the problem, then quit rc, zip up the .log file, and send it to [email protected] with a brief description of the problemjd

Hi jd, it was assigned as default (i.e. 1 = Menu selection 1)and I have tune on contact enabled, the frequency was correct as it was listed in the ADV Dis window so I double checked.If it occurs again I will follow your instructions.Cheers!

Hi JD,the same happened to me at the end of long transatlantic flight from Washington to Frankfurt with the PMDG 744. I re-assigned the "1" to "shift+1" exactly to avoid a potential conflict with other addons. RC worked like a charm for about 95 % of the flight, but it didn't hand me off from Amsterdam Center to Frankfurt Center, it handed me off directly to appch and from there the "contact" option disappeared, after a while I got a "hungapp" error for RC4 and needed to quit it (completed the flight without RC anyway). Other flights didn't give me this error, so I don't know if it could be a scenery-related problem (I have the Aerosoft MegaAirport Frankfurt add-on installed).Unrelated to this, I have noticed that with RC4/ADV display on, the PMDG 744 is behaving slighlty differently (that is, has problem to maintain a correct attitude with A/P engaged during climb and during climb only) than without RC4/ADV display. I did some tries to see if this behaviour was related and really seems so (just withe the PMDG 744, not with other add-ons).I'll report this to their forum too.Thanks a lot for RC, anyway, can't fly without it (at least, till it works...).

keep in mind, that clicking debug after the problem occurs does me no good. it has to be running from the beginning of the flight.jd

let me know if it happens again. if you are 40 miles from the arrival airport, you will be switched to approach, regardless of center/sector boundaries.were you still able to navigate the rc menus? if so, that tells me that rc was still running.i'm wondering if you can duplicate this with a shorter flight, and do the debug thing for me before the flightjd

OK, I'll try in the coming days (but I suspect there is some .bgl files in the vicinity of the Aerosoft EDDF add-on that are causing havoc within FS: I wasn't able to go away from that airport: that is, everything working flawlessly till about 35-40 miles out to the northeast, then, without any stutter/instability- FS simply vanishes form the screen! This happened to me once, and the culprit was a duplicated AFCAD file then renamed with AFDScan, but this time this is not the case, no duplicate AFCADs, so I already contacted Aerosoft support, because this happens either with add-ons planes and with the default Cessna, either with RC4 running or not, either with ActiveSky weather or FS9 clear skies). Anyway, I'll try...Yes, I was able to move the RC menus, but no "S1" (shift-1) option in any place. RC was still running for about, say, 3-4 minutes then, I opened it from the taskbar to see if there was something wrong and tried to quit it (just to be able to make that damned landing after 7+ hrs of flight !), and got the "hungapp" for "rcv4.exe" message.I'll do my best to see what happens on a shorter flight (but I'm waiting for an answer from the Aerosoft support before further checks, OK?).

Just in case it's important, I was flying from Cheyenne to Souix City, neither airport nor the land in between was other than default scenery, no AFCADS or .bgl files added anywhere near the flight route.I hope to try it out again later.

I too have the Mega Airport Frankfurt scenery installed (together with all German Airports packages and lots of other Aerosoft scenery packages) and already used it heavily with RC4. No problems so far, neither at take-off nor at approach/landing.But I mainy fly within Germany/Europe.Oliver

Interesting- I've had this prob constantly since installing RCv4, although v3.x worked perfectly.louross.

Got an answer from Aerosoft and downloaded a patch for both the AFCADs and the secenery. I'll let you know if this cures the problem. Thanks a lot.

Same with me - I'm running RC4 in a WideFS configuration. I did up to now 20 flights with RC4. Two of them were ok without any problems, but with all other eighteen flights I had the problem not to be able to access all needed keys. Sometimes no chance to press the keys 1 and 2, but 3 and higher I was able to press- other times I was able to press the keys 1-3 but not the higher keys.I will now try to debug this problem and send it to JD.CheersPeter
