January 26, 200620 yr The tower instructed me to "go around" from my IAP approach and then gave me vectors which I followed while I cleaned up the aircraft and accelerated. By then I was looking for an option to request a second IAP approach but I wasn't offered one! I could get an IAP option only after declaring an emergency. Did I miss something?Fred
January 26, 200620 yr I'm not sure IAP's offered after an ATC initiated GA. It certainly is after a pilot initiated MA. Interesting. You say IAP wasn't there, even after vectors out and back in? Verify please. If it's not there I'll put it on the Vx Misc list. After an ATC induced GA eh ...? Logical. I don't believe I ever thought of this one.
January 26, 200620 yr Author Thanks Doug - I'll make some more IAS approaches in the hope of getting another GA. I think I was vectored in again but I'll check this. For the purposes of this trial is there any way of increasing the chances of being given a GA?Fred
January 26, 200620 yr Hi Fred,Don't lower your landing gear when on final. Then a GA should be giiven every time. All the best,John

January 27, 200620 yr Author I've made some trial IAP approaches with gear up and, after the ATC initiated GAs , found that RC4 *does* expect aircraft to make further IAP approaches. My co-pilot was on radios and this may have confused the outcome. Although RC4 defaults to Vectors (RC4 manual) it appears to allow second IAP approaches without specific requests.I'll make some more trials with myself on radios and check again. There's more in RC4 than meets the eye! ;) Fred
January 27, 200620 yr Commercial Member yeah, there is. it's hard to document all the possible combinations of features, and what it looks/feels likedoug and i have one flight plan that we used to test missed approaches and change of destinations. it involved flying to an uncontrolled airport, and doing a missed approach. then change destination to the alternate 1, which was a center/tower/ground configurationthen MA there, and go to the alternate 2 airport, which was a fully controlled airport. then MA there, and going to the original departure airport. you could fly this combination of 4 airports over and over, changing what the change of destination would be.enjoyjd JD Read my blog
January 29, 200620 yr Author Thanks JD for your suggestion to fly multiple GAs but I continued to make more approaches from a saved situation to the same airport. My findings are that with pilot or co-pilot on coms, for an ATC initiated GA, aircraft are immediately told to fly the rwy hdg and then vectors towards the airport until told to maintain a lower height 'until the initial IAP/ILS'.I'm happy to confirm that RC4 doesn't 'forget' aircraft requested an IAP approach! :-)After the inital GA the displayed options change to 'Req Vis App' and 'Req Vector App' so by implication aircraft are still on IAP approaches but to remove any doubt in pilots' minds I would suggest, in a later version, some wording like this: 'Fly heading xxx' (rwy hdg) and then followed immediately by 'Fly vectors until able to resume IAP approach'. I've looked but I think it cannot be done with the present scripts.:-hmmm Fred
