Considering buying...

Hi there,I'm considering buying Radar Contact but i am still unsure. I'm hoping you can convince me, lol.I have a couple of questions.1)After reading a lot of stuff on these forums i understand that there is no ground traffic managment. Does that mean that AI aircraft will just taxi through me if i'm in their way?2)How does RC integrate with other add-ons such as UK2000 scenery, FsPassengers, AISmooth and PMDG 737? By this i mean will it conflict with these addons or can it run side by side. Also how stable is the product. Will it be more hassle than its worth or does it operate with the minimum of fuss. (I understand that its a complex program, but its complexity doesn't worry me.) What i mean is will it #### up a lot or is a good solid replacement for the MS ATC.Thanks.

1) if they are stupid enough to do that, then yes. they always seem to give me my space, and i give them theirs. i've never had an ai taxi through me. but it's not because something i'm doing in rc. they don't taxi through me when rc isn't running. are you saying that's a problem on your machine?2) www.jdtllc.com has a long list of what works with rc, and what doesn't. scenery doesn't matter, you build a rc db based on your installed scenery when initially install rc. if you add additional scenery, then you would want to re-run the build stepi don't know of any problems with fspassengers. the author of fspassengers has a copy of rc, and i haven't heard of any problems from himaismooth, i don't use it, but many beta testers do. no problems that i know ofnon ms airplanes. the only problem there, is the plane doesn't use the ms autopilot controls, so the rc co-pilot cannot fly these fancy planes.lastly, read the reviews. there are 5 links pinned to the top of the forum. the avsim review will be coming out shortly, if you want to wait for that one. this is version 4, it's a stable product. but it isn't ms atc. go to http://www.jdtllc.com/documentation.htm and download the manual. go to http://www.jdtllc.com/tutorials.htm and read throught the tutorials. that should give you a pretty clear picture of what you're getting.jd

Thanks for your reply. I had an ai aircraft taxi through me while i was holding short at a runway. i didn't have ai collisions to off so i had to restart the flight. lol. So the aircraft won't try and jump ahead of me if i'm in a queue for the runway. Thats my main concern. Does the co pilot adjust headings, altitudes and comms etc. can i use fsnavigator to do this instead if the co pilot is unable?

the co pilot will follow the directions of atc. fsnavigator will not. fsnavigator only cares about the plane flying from point a to b to c to d.rc co pilot will fly the headings assigned, climb and descend as directed, etc. but again, rc co pilot can not fly a non ms autopilot equiped plane.jd

>I had an ai aircraft taxi through me>while i was holding short at a runway.I have tried to be run over by an AI plane twice while using RC (however I have no evidence whatsoever that it wouldn't have happened with FS ATC). For this reason - and since I am using Ultimate Traffic, which tend to not make some airports so crowded that it can be hard to pass the parked planes without using the grass - I've made it a habit to save the flight before I start taxiing./ Jesper

I fly RC4 with FS Passengers and Activesky and AIsmooth all the time and I have absolutely no problems.Tip: Load up your flights in the following order.1. Start Activesky 6 (if you have it)2. Use your flight planner to create the flightplan (or start FS9 and use the built in flight planner to create a flight plan)3. Go to Activesky and load in the flightplan (if you used the built in flight planner, just press your start key to tab out to Activesky)4. Start Fs9 and load the aircraft and flight plan 5. Once seated on the flightdeck - load FS passengers as normal - note number of passengers6. Load in the Activesky radar (if you're using it)7. Tab out of FS9 and start Radar Contact 4 - load in the flight plan and set your options - number passengers, flight number, etc. Press Start to activeate radar contact.8. while here, it doesn't hurt to press the "refresh AI" button on Activesky 69. Back in FS9 - you're all set to fly. Note, if you plan to go to an uncontrolled field and want to use unicom on approach or use MSATC ground controlled at any field, set MSATC on Com 2 and turn the ATC sound up in "settings" - also make sure you have assigned the same flight numbers in MSATC as you did for RC4.
