February 11, 200620 yr Hello everybody, when I do my flight preperation I got an issue with the assigned Runways... Before I file my Flightplan (FSBUILD) I check the METAR for the Airport and when I see that the wind is coming from 270 I select the runway 26L (e.g. in Munich EDDM)... When I then start my flight (loaded Flightplan, started RC) then I get assigned to RWY 08R... which does not make sense to me.... I thought RC takes the weather conditions into account by assigning the Runway... Then I tried a strange thing!! I asked the controller to give me 26L, which he did... but of course the entire AI traffic was still using 08L / 08R.... you can imagine that this start was pretty exiting...Does anyone of you can tell me how to overcome this? What are your steps by creating Flightplan / programming FMC / checking RWY etc...Thanks for inputs...Happy Landings, best regards out of the cold & snowy MunichChristian
February 11, 200620 yr Commercial Member when there are ai planes landing and departing, i choose the runway based on what they are using.i think someone else mentioned the startup steps, which includes loading the weather, and then recycling the ai, so they might start using the right runway based on the windjd JD Read my blog
February 11, 200620 yr >Does anyone of you can tell me how to overcome this? What are>your steps by creating Flightplan / programming FMC / checking>RWY etc...The sequence I use for AS6, FS9 and RC4 is this:1. With FS not running, start AS6 download/save current weather. Then start FSBuild to create my flight plan.2. Import the flight plan into AS6 and "REFRESH" (again, FS is not running). This allows AS6 to select approprate cloud textures and upload them to FS9.3. Start FS. REFRESH weather in AS6 (this allows the current weather to be inserted into FS9). 4. Either a) refresh AI via the AS6 interface or FSUIPC interface, or :( reset the FS date/time to prompt the refresh. (I use (:( because it is more reliable - I've never had FS hang when doing it this way).5. Fire up RC4, load the flight plan. Start RC4 and you are now set with everything in sync. There are variations to the above - the key is to ensure that before starting RC4 you have set the weather in FS9 and refreshed AI in some way.-michael
February 11, 200620 yr The easiest way to sync the weather and runways that I found is this. It works 95% or more of the time. Once I have my FS9 running, AS loaded (I am still using AS 4.5)......simply choose from the FS menu World, Time and Season, and then just click ok without changing anything. It will then reload time, traffic, etc., and the AI, ATC will start using the correct runway for the availiable winds. As long as there are AI using the runway loaded before the correct weather, ATC will not change runways. The above simple proceedure will almost always get weather & ATC sync'd together.Hope this help!Rick
