Feature Request: Makerwys automatically over WideFS

Recommended Posts

JD et al.,May I be so bold as to ask for a feature for the next update of RCv4? Basically, I run RCv4 over a WideFS connection from a WideClient PC. What I would like to see is a permanent entry for the path to the makerwys.exe file. Perhaps recorded in the RCv4 ini file or something. Most of us running WideFS have permenent drives/shares mapped between the WideServer and WideClient PCs, so recording the path of the initial execution of "Rebuild Scenery" should be possible. For instance, I have a "Z:" drive on my WideClient PC mapped to my E: drive on the WideServer PC where FS9 is installed in E:Flight Simulator 9. So every time I update the RCv4 scenery cache I enter "Z:Flight Simulator 9" as the path. Could you prompt me for this path once, then automattically execute the makerwys.exe file and copy csv file in one process? Basically I answer "yes" to the WideFS-Install prompt, give you my Z:Flight Simulator 9 path and you then remember this entry and rebuild the cache every time I press the rebuild button thereafter. ActiveSky 6, FS Flight Keeper, and FlightSim Commander have entries for this type of path in their ini files and it seems to work well. I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if I need to elaborate further. Thanks for the consideration. instead of asking you for the fs path each time, you want me to remember it from time to time? sadly, that info is already there, in the registry. but i'd say 50 percent of people fs path is wrong in the registry. i'll put it on the list for v5jd

Almost, You already ask us for the path to FS9; in my case, Z:Flight Simulator 9. This is where the makerwys.exe and csv file are. So, remember this path, execute makerwys and then copy the csv file over like you already do. Record this path in the ini file and and then the next time we push "rebuild scenery" in RCv4, automatically do both again based on the previous path entry. Does that make more sense? BTW, the regestry won't help in the WideFS case because we want to run the makerwys.exe and the csv copy proces from the WideClient who's registry doesn't contain any FS9 registry information. Just prompt and record the path and execute.AL | KCHS - Charleston AFB/Intl | USAF 437AW (~53 C-17's)FS9/Game Rig:AMD64-4000+ SanDiego OC=210/420/2520 | Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe | Corsair TwinX2048-3200C2PT (2x1GB) 2.5-3-3-8/1T@2.8v | Evga NV 7900GT v84.56 (1280x1024x32/4xAA/16xAF/High-Quality) | Enermax 550W PSU | Thermalright XP-120(mm) HSF | NV 1GB LAN | NV SATA-I Raid-0 223GB (3x80GB Samsung) (WinXPx64/Games) | NV SATA-II WD 320GB (Backups) | IDE-0 80GB Samsung (Archive) | Realtek AC'97 5.1 Surround | CH Yoke, TQ, & Pedals | FS9.1 (Settings max'd/60-40Vis/No-Shadows/20FPS) | WideFS v6.16 | FSUIPC v3.617 | FSGenesis Mesh (All) | PMDG (All) | PAI (All) | FSBuild2 | EtcFS9 Support Rig:AMD3200+ | Gigabyte GA-7NNXP | Leadtek NV 5900 | Corsair TwinX1024-3200 (2x512MB) | Intel 1GB LAN | SiI3112 SATA-I 80GB Samsung | IDE-0 80GB IBM | JustCom 4port KVM | FS Wide Client | ActiveSky v6 (512x512x32bit / Wx Influanced)| Radar Contact v4.01 | FS Real Time | FS Flight Keeper | FS Commander | AI Smooth
