January 23, 200719 yr Hi,I'm still running RC 4.2 and FS9 (since my Raid0 crashed I haven't bothered to install FSX yet) and everything is perfect. The question I have is not very important or urgent and doesn't diminish my enjoyment with RC, but it can be a bit annoying at times (ah, you should hear me some times when I start #### back ;))Anyway, here goes:When I am told to contact approach, I do so (or Otto does, depends...) Then, before I have the chance to request a different approach, ATC starts giving me vectors. What determines the delay between the two events? I remember that I used to have enough time to request an IAP approach before ATC would start giving instructions, but lately, without exception, I am unable to do so. Ok, so I ignore ATC's instructions, request my approach and all is well in the end, but it would be nice if the controller would be a tad more patient :)Another one: if I understood correctly, there is no real benefit if I upgrade to 4.3, since I only use FS9. Correct?Other than that, well, what can I say? I love RC4 to pieces and can't imagine flying without it. The other day my RC4 computer (WideFS) crashed and I tried a flight without it. Yuck... Luckily, later I was able to repair without reinstalling everything and RC4 was back. What a relief! :)Regards,Jure
January 23, 200719 yr Commercial Member that timer really hasn't changed. does it matter whether you or otto are talking?there isn't a problem asking for an iap approach after the first vector. ignore the vector, you're iap request will always be approvedno beneift for fs9 users to upgrade to 4.3 - except, if i make any changes to 4.3, i'm not making it to to 4.2 JD Read my blog
January 23, 200719 yr Author JD,thanks for your quick answer! No, it doesn't matter if I or Otto are handling the comms, timing is the same. But it's ok, if I ignore the first vectors and request an IAP, it is always approved, like you say. As I said, it's really not that important, I'm probably just getting old and cranky. I DO shout at the ATC sometimes, you know. :)For now, I'll stick to RC4.2 and pray that my old crate doesn't bite the dust. I've had enough reinstalling in the past year to last me a lifetime! Thanks again!Jure
