February 12, 200719 yr Hi, i am sure it must be something i am doing but I use FS Navigator to plan a flight from Southend (UK) to Malpensa (Italy) VOR to VORand I have flown it twice now both times towards the end of the flight ATC instructed me to descend and I flew into the Alps !!!! should I have ignored the instructions to descend ?? what am i doing wrong...ThanksDave Norman
February 12, 200719 yr HiMake sure you have Notams enabled for the arrival airport. You should always have notams checked when you are flying into a dangerous airport or when there is dangerous terrain in the vicinity of the departure of arrival airport. Most airport charts show you the MSA (Minimum Saftey Altitude).Regards
February 12, 200719 yr For that airport it is best to choose the IAP when approach contacts you and follow the charted STAR and IAP due to high terrain at one end. This is often true also of paths taking you through terrain valleys.Version 5 of RC is anticipated to have a quad MSA that you can set for each airport so it can make better choices for vectoring. It is still many months from release.
