RC4 and full screen FS9... What am I doing wrong?

Featured Replies

Is it possible to run FS9 full screen, while using RC4? I must be doing something wrong. I start FS9, then Alt+Enter to go to windowed-mode, start RC4, and when I try to Alt+Enter to return FS9 to full screen, everything just hangs.I am using no mods, no add-on scenery, etc. Please tell me that I don't have to run FS9 in windowed mode to use RC4 !!!!!!!Thank you...JimP.S. I also noticed that I don't have the 'Check for Updates' button on the RC4 main screen. Is this something that is not there, or is the manual correct?

You have a couple of options here to get to full screen:I have a folder that has shortcuts to RC4, FS9, weather-apps, a flight planner, etc. I open this folder first. I then can start FS full screen and load a parked flight. I then can alt-tab back to my folder, start a weather-app, load weather, and have it update the FS weather.I have from a stand-alone flight planner (or one activated with FS running) to create an FS9 plan from my loaded flight departure field and save the plan in FS9 format. If need be I can alt-tab to my original folder and get RC running by loading a plan, selecting aircraft type, and doing other RC things, then start RC.I alt-tab back to FS where you should see the RC window to position within the full screen FS.If you have FS windowed, hit alt to bring up the FS menu bar. Clicking on View should should show Full Screen in the drop down View menu. Click on that and FS should be full screen. If you have a problem with not getting to the FS active window be sure to click on the cockpit view outside of the RC window to insure that the FS window is active.Which version of RC are you running? There should be a check for updates button on the lower right quarter of the main RC4.2 screen.

Thanks for the reply, Ron. I've got it running full screen now, but I still don't have the check for updates button ANYWHERE on the RC main screen. I just purchased RC about a week ago, and I'm runnin version 4.3.3845Any ideas????Jim

check for updates was disabled in v4.3 - we weren't using it anyway, and it's control was getting in the way of a successful vista installjd

Thank you for the reply, jd. Just wanted to make sure everything is as it should be.Will I receive notice of updates electronically, or is this something I should just do 'manually'?Jim
