RC4 dual install fro FS9 & FSX

Featured Replies

Hello, I have main RC4 in C:Program Filesrcv4 folder and FSX flavor of RC4 in F:rcv4x. I really don't want to move this folder back and forth if I want to fly FSX with RC4, I'd rather edit some config or regedit if there's something to change in the registry. Much faster than to copy the whole thing. I should have installed RC4 on F partition in the beginning and have the 2 version folders there. But since I already installed it before it came to my mind, is there a way to retrofit? I could also move RC4 folder from C to F partition and use the both there, just changing the names of the folders to switch them. But for that I'll need your advise what lines I'll need to change either in the config or registry. Many thanks. PS: (I bought the CD, not download).Dirk.

Thanks jd. How would I run the FSX version from my disk F? I thought It was just an alternative substitute for the main FS9 install (or vice-versa). Anyway, when I want to run the FS9 version of RC4 I go the start/programs as normal and run Launch Radar Contact shortcut from there. What about FSX version on F: disk? How to launch it?

when you did the install, did you choose the fs2004 and fsx install option?if so, you should have two directories, rcv4 and rcv4xif you want to run rcv4 with fs9, run the rcv4.exe from the rcv4 directoryif you want to run rcv4 with fsx, run the rcv4.exe from the rcv4x directoryyou should have two start menu items. start radar contact for fs9 and start radar contact for fsxjd

Thanks, but I've got only Launch Radar Contact 4.0 and 4.01 entries in the start menu. Will try to run FSX version manually and report.

>Thanks, but I've got only Launch Radar Contact 4.0 and 4.01>entries in the start menu. Will try to run FSX version>manually and report.>RC4x requests activation, RC4 for FS9 starts OK (activated already). Is that right with a separate lisence for RC4x?Thanks.PS: Activation sent, does abouve looks ok? I forgot to mention I installed RC4 & RC4x on Client pc.

if rcv4 directory, and rcv4x directory are on different drives, you will need different keys for eachjd

JD, if FS9 and FSX versions of RC4 are on the same physical disk but different partitions will I need 2 KEYS yet?I'll have to remove my previous installations of RC4 for FS9 and FSX and install RC4 fresh on a more advanced PC with much more HDD space.(I'm just a little embarrassed because on your end due to this reinstalls it may look like I'm trying to make pirate copies).Thanks.

two drive letters, two keysi'm sorry i need two installs for two version of fs. for now, that's the way it has to bewhen you start asking for a different key everyday, like the guy in the netherlands, then i get suspicious. he had every excuse in the book.i won't be too worried to see a couple more key requests from you. no worriesjd

Thanks, I won't stretch your magnanimity, lol. Once I'm happy I'll make a backup image till the next hardware updgrade on that machine, so no reinstalls any more, touch wood.(Was that guy in Holland selling PCs with RC4 pre-installed you mean? First talking OS on buttons, lol).Cheers,Dirk.

who knowsi'm sure he made a few bucks off of me. i'm sure he didn't have that many computers go bad, having to replace them all. he also had a lot of sons that wanted radar contat on their machines.when i told him there were no more keys coming his way, he offered to buy another copy (presumably to get more keys). i told him no thanks, keep your money. i can't afford to have you as a customer :-)jd
