July 5, 200718 yr Commercial Member Hi,I remember reading about this quite some time ago, the Radar Contact software add on for MSFS.. I remember being quite dubious about it at first really unsure as to whether it would make my experience much more enjoyable.. I must say that I took some convincing and then eventually decided to take the plunge.Well.. if I'm flying IFR with just MSFS now.. I can't live without it.. It is extremely useful, much more realistic and a huge improvement over the default ATC within MSFS. I remember thinking to myself (before getting RC) that the only improvement I would be interested in for MSFS was the ATC.. once again we were all disappointed as it was mainly graphical enhancement, but once I learned about RC4 and did my research I got my more realistic ATC.I am a conservative addon buyer.. and I usually think long and hard before spending money and judge addons I have by the.. "would I get it again" factor.. RC4 is a most DEFINITE.. buy again package for me..I got an e-mail today, an automatic one mentioning RC5! Well.. I had no idea this was in the pipeline and frankly can't wait to get my hands on it.. I don't know if this is the correct way to give some of my thoughts or not.. if it's not I apologise.. please ignore or delete my post as appropriate..I am almost always using PMDGs 747.. and all my flying is IFR..Things I'd like to see:1 - RC5 begin able to give clearance for Atlantic and Pacific tracks on the ground..2 - RC5 having times for pushbacks.. so if you miss your slot for push.. you may get delayed..3 - RC5 can issue taxi instructions.. and holds before crossing runways etc.. if that's possible..4 - RC5 asks for squawk mode charlie.5 - RC5 can ask if you're ready to go immediately.. when you're approaching the runway.. rather than always asking the pilot to lineup pause then take off..6 - RC5 can issue wake turbulance warnings on landings and departures..7 - RC5 controlling the AI locally, perhaps within 100 miles.. (I think this has been mentioned and it's not part of the RC5 remit). One of my biggest problems is the poor management of aircraft landing and taking off.. and the inefficient manner in which aircraft are asked to lineup.. RC5 may be able to set a specific runway for landing and another for takeoff for dual runway airports.. etc..8 - RC5 allows a programmable SID option.. or perhaps.. RC5 could be configured to use the SIDs available at Navdata?9 - RC5 supports pilots warning towers of wake turbulance on landing or departure..10 - RC5 allows the shorthand ground on "point niner" for US airports..11 - RC5 supports alterations to the settings while active.. 12 - RC5 can advise if the runway selected is not the active..13 - RC5 can handle stars in much the same way as SIDs14 - RC5 supports squawk ident..If I think of anymore I will add to this list.. I appreciate that a lot of this probably has been thought of and perhaps some already implemented already.. I just thought I'd give my thoughts to you guys.. but more importantly.. let you know that I really like the package and I'm looking forward to release day.. I'll be ordering RC5 for sure..CheersCraig Craig Read, EGLL
July 5, 200718 yr HiI am sure that there are probably too many discussions on what we want to see on RC5; with replies with what is and what isn't possible. But Craig has given a very good list of what would make RC5 even greater than RC4, which is already 1st class!No.3 is probably my only real issue with RC4, I like to be told where to taxi. True real world pilots don't need a pink dotted line to follow, but they do receive taxi instructions. And there needs to be some sort of hold instructions when meeting paths of other aircraft.No.2 - I hadn't even thought of that, but that would be awesome! I am never quite sure with RC4, whether to call up for clearance immediately I am ready to depart, or about 5 mins (or so) earlier. In practice I tend to do the latter, so I can listen to other traffic getting ready before my aircraft is fully ready to depart, then contact ground when I am ready to taxi.No.1 and No.5 would alo be great improvements!Whatever comes with RCV5, I will be upgrading.Mark
