August 27, 200718 yr Hi all Recently was flying toward Boston at FL350 when the TCAS started telling me to "CLIMB, CLIMB NOW". Nearly spilling my coffee, I took avoiding action, just missing opposite direction traffic at my altitude and 1/2 mile to my starboard. I have only flown with RC4 a few times but was very suprised that I did not get a warning of this traffic from the Boston controller ( perhaps he was having coffee too :-) Can someone explain why I didn't get a warning.

August 27, 200718 yr Make sure in RC options that you have Interact with AI enabled. Be sure you have the current FSUIPC from the link noted above. What version of FS and FSUIPC are you using? Also note if you are operating RC on other than the FS computer if you are networked. If all is set up and you are still having a problem then a log to jd is in order.I bring all this up since you state you have only used RC for a short time and you did not state if this has happened on other occasions. Note your version of RC as well.
August 28, 200718 yr Author Hi JD/Ronzie Thanks for your quick replys. Ronzie, in response to your question I am running FS9 patched. FSUIPC, Version 3.72. RC4 Version 4.3.3845 with interact with AI checked and AI chatter enabled. When I next get time to fly I'll have to send a File to JD. Regards Nic

August 31, 200718 yr JD Wrote: "I would/should see these guys and take care of them."From my point of view, it looks as if by "tak[ing] care of them," the AI planes are frozen on their current heading/speed/altitude when a call goes out about traffic. The AI plane could very well be in a turn or climbing to flight level, but when RC notifies me of traffic and vice versa, that AI plane, perhaps currently in a bank to turn, continues straight, all the while banked. I see no evidence that any AI planes are actually diverted away from a potential conflict with my aircraft, nor does such action guarantee adequate separation with the traffic in question. Once the RC call goes out to the AI plane that it is clear of traffic, the plane will become unfrozen, and go about what FS9 ATC wanted it to do.Is this what you mean by "taking care of them"?Rod S.
