I cannot make it run: FSX/Vista

Featured Replies

Hi JD:I have just installed RC on a Vista system and FSX. I'm using the registered version of FSUIP V.4.16.When launching RC directly (without right click and "run as administrator" option) the first screen appears and works perfectly. I load a flight plan, I select the options and when presing the big key for starting RC it desapears as normally. In the FSX screen appears the message windows perfectly, but when selecting option 1 in the window, it hangs and a window with the following message appears: "Runtime error 75. RadarContact.fsuipc.rev4code".When launching RC with administrator rights (right click on the icon) it directly shows this message: "component 'mscomct2.ocx" or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid", without even showing the first screen. What is happening? Thanks in advance

No solution.I downloaded MSCOMCT2.OCX from ascentive, registered with regsrv32 (with no errors) but RC gives the same error "component 'mscomct2.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid".I even downloaded the whole library set from ascentive, but no difference.jr

is this 64bit vista? if yes, the .ocx and .dll need to go into the wow64 directory, and registered from there, with admin priviledges of coursedid you start the dos window with admin priviledges?in a dos window, type echo %windir%what does it say?what directory did you put the mscomct2.ocx file?did you open a dos window with admin priviledges, and navigate to %windir%system32then in the same dos window, you did the regsrv32 mscomct2.ocx?what did that screen look like?if you could do screen captures of all these, and post them, we can figure out what is going on. maybe you have to windows directoriesjd

When echoing %windir% it gives c:Windows (see first attachment). The mscomct2.ocx file is in c:windowssystem32 directory (see same attachment). After doing the regsvr32 mscomct2.ocx command, the result is a window informing of the success (see second attachment).I have uninstalled and re-installed the RC application and nothing changed.Don't know what else try.Regards,Jr

try the commandregsvr32 %windir%system32mscomct2.ocxjd

I did it with same results. It's clear that this error has nothing to do with mscomct2.ocx. I was wondering what "instances" are those mentioned in the error message. Do you have any idea?jr

how exactly are you starting the dos window?

Start->All Programs->Accesories-> right click over command line and start as administrator.

i'm at a loss.maybe it is the non english version of windows you are running, that is fouling things up.i do say on the website under requirements.Microsoft Windows XP (English) or Microsoft Vista (English) does anyone else have his version of vista, and had success?otherwise, i don't know where to go from here. send me an email, and we can discuss optionsjd

HiThe question is why start Vista from a DOS window when all that is required is to click on Radar Contact under the start button then right click on the program and click on run as administrator.I do not think that the use of a Dos window is called forRegardsNorman Bowman
